Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer

Auctionet

Is this job info correct?

Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer Platform & DevOps Engineer for a marketplace with 1M customers. Self-hosted k8s, CI/CD, and the new infrastructure for running AI agents securely. Small team, real ownership. Apply now Auctionet is a marketplace where auction houses from Sweden, Great Britain, Finland, Spain, Germany, and Denmark sell furniture, art, design objects, collectibles, and much more. We are now looking for a Platform & DevOps Engineer who wants to build the infrastructure our engineers — and increasingly our AI agents — run on. About the Role We're expanding our Platform & Infrastructure team, and a good part of what you'd be part of creating doesn't exist yet. The foundation is familiar work: the infrastructure behind a marketplace used by over a million buyers, the pipelines our product teams ship through, and the developer experience that decides whether shipping feels easy or heavy. The new part is AI infrastructure. We're building internal tooling and automation with AI agents, and we need to decide how those agents are hosted, sandboxed, authenticated, and given controlled access to our data and our product. That means building real applications and APIs, not only configuring things. It's close to greenfield — you'd be part of shaping it rather than inheriting it. You'd be the third engineer in Platform & Infrastructure, alongside our Lead — who owns technical direction for the platform — and a senior engineer. Three people supporting a tech department of around 30, plus systems used well beyond Tech. That means you get real ownership early, and it means judgment about what to automate matters more than raw throughput. Your responsibilities will include: Running and hardening our production infrastructure — reproducible from code, not hand-configured. Owning CI/CD and developer experience — making deploys frequent, boring, and reversible. Building the environments where our AI agents run: isolation, resource limits, scoped credentials, and audit trails. Building internal APIs and platform applications so agents, automations, and internal tools have a stable, documented, permissioned way into Auctionet's data and product. Enabling colleagues who build their own internal tooling with AI — paved paths and guardrails rather than gatekeeping. Owning observability across infrastructure, deploys, and agent runs, and keeping infrastructure and AI spend predictable. This role is based in Stockholm, hybrid (partly remote possible). Working language is English, and we'd like to start as soon as possible. On-call is voluntary and compensated. About the Team You'll join our Platform & Infrastructure team, working across every product team at Auctionet rather than inside one of them. We run our own Kubernetes on Hetzner, with additional infrastructure on AWS and an assortment of smaller services around the main stack. The platform carries around 1 million end customers, 80 auction house customers, and roughly 1,000 admins working in the auction house system every day — so this is real production traffic with real business hours behind it. Our product teams build in Ruby on Rails, with Turbo, Stimulus, and PostgreSQL. We also have systems built with Elixir and Phoenix. We care about how we build: maintainable code, solid test coverage, continuous deployment, and the kind of well-established best practices that keep a codebase healthy over years rather than months. Auctionet runs the leading online marketplace for European auction houses — art, design, furniture, and antiques. We have around 170 employees and are the parent company of a wider group with roughly 400 colleagues across multiple countries. Our main office is near Stureplan in central Stockholm, with logistics centres in Malmö, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Westbury, and Köln. About You You like making other engineers faster, and you'd rather build a paved path than answer the same question twice. To succeed in this role, we think you have: Solid infrastructure and operations experience, with infrastructure-as-code as your default rather than a project you keep meaning to start. Kubernetes experience with a genuine understanding of what's underneath it — we run our own clusters, so this isn't abstracted away. Real software engineering ability — you build and maintain applications and APIs, not only configuration. This role writes code. CI/CD and release engineering experience, and opinions about what makes deployment boring. A security instinct for running code you don't fully trust: sandboxing, least privilege, secrets handling, audit trails. Comfort working across teams as an internal service provider, and in English (Swedish is a plus). Bonus and not mandatory: Hands-on experience running LLM agents or automation workloads in production. Experience across more than one cloud, or with self-hosted infrastructure on bare metal. Interest in art, design, or collectibles. You don't need to have done the AI part before. Nobody has been doing it for long. If you've built platforms for other engineers and you're curious about this, that's a strong start. Benefits 30 days' paid vacation. Flexible holiday swap — trade two public holidays for ones you choose. 8% occupational pension — on top of your salary. Parental pay — a top-up to your paid parental leave. Wellness — a 4,000 SEK yearly grant, plus one paid hour a week during working hours. Health support — counselling, rehabilitation, and income support during long-term sick leave. Learning & development — an annual budget for courses, conferences, and professional growth. Art Club — events, exhibitions, and openings through our staff association. ... and a few more perks beyond these. How we hire We see hiring as a two-way thing. We're mindful of your time, but we also want to spend enough of it together for both of us to get a real feel for working as a team — a short intro call, then two or three conversations with the team, and a small take-home exercise you can do in your own time. No whiteboard puzzles — we'd rather talk through real work together. Apply By We will be reviewing applications continuously. If you're excited about this role but don't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you. Very few people match every point — so if you're close and motivated, please apply. Who We Are Auctionet was founded in 2011 by a team of people with unique experience of online auctions. Read more about Auctionet here .
