As a Senior Platform Engineer in Limerick, you will join a diverse, passionate team, dedicated to powering the world’s payments ecosystem!

This purpose of this Senior Platform Engineer is:

ACI's Internal Developer Platform is the foundation every product and delivery team builds on — cloud-native infrastructure spanning Kubernetes/OpenShift and multiple cloud providers, CI/CD, observability, and the golden paths that let engineers ship payment software quickly and safely. As Sr Platform Engineer, you'll own a platform domain end-to-end — architecture, reliability, and roadmap — and be the technical authority other engineers turn to within that domain.

A typical day at ACI for a Senior Platform Engineer is:

• Own a platform domain end to end (e.g., CI/CD, observability, or cloud infrastructure) — architecture, reliability, and roadmap for that domain
• Architect resilient, multi-tenant platform services within your domain, balancing portability against deep cloud-provider leverage
• Lead the design and implementation of golden-path tooling in your domain, and measure its real impact on developer productivity, not just its existence
• Set reliability targets and error budgets for the services in your domain, and lead incident response and blameless postmortems when things break
• Architect AI-ready infrastructure within your domain — GPU/inference capacity, model-serving, or vector infrastructure — as a first-class capability
• Champion AI-assisted engineering practices within your domain, building AI-assisted tooling into the golden paths you own
• Design and enforce security and compliance controls (policy-as-code, tenant isolation) within your domain for a regulated payments environment
• Mentor platform engineers and associates, and lead design reviews for your domain
• Represent your domain's technical perspective to other platform teams and stakeholders, and resolve conflicts through technical reasoning
• Drive systematic reduction of toil and defects in your domain through automation
• Perform other duties as assigned

As a Senior Platform Engineer at ACI, you will work with the below Tech Stack:

• Gen AI infrastructure — hands-on experience with model-serving infrastructure and vector databases within your domain
• Container orchestration — strong, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes/OpenShift, including autoscaling and operator patterns
• Infrastructure as code — strong Terraform (or equivalent) expertise, including module design and policy-as-code enforcement
• Cloud platforms — strong expertise in [primary provider]; growing fluency across [secondary providers]
• CI/CD & delivery — hands-on ownership of pipeline architecture and golden-path tooling design within your domain
• Observability — strong instrumentation and observability design within your domain
• Service mesh & networking — solid experience with service mesh and platform-level network/security architecture

• Gen AI infrastructure — hands-on experience with model-serving infrastructure and vector databases within your domain

Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed to succeed in this role:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems, Software Engineering or a similar subject.
• 8+ years experience in software engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles, including experience owning a platform domain or major technical capability independently
• Strong critical thinking, with the ability to frame decisions clearly and evaluate technical trade-offs under pressure or ambiguity
• Strong systems thinking, with the ability to understand how a platform domain interacts with the wider platform and product ecosystem
• Solid, applied knowledge of SaaS, cloud-native architecture, Linux, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals
• Hands-on experience designing and operating resilient, multi-tenant, cloud-native platform services
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift, including production operations, scaling, and workload management
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform or equivalent, including reusable module design and automation
• Strong experience with modern CI/CD practices, pipeline architecture, and developer enablement or golden-path tooling
• Experience designing observability capabilities using logs, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and service-health indicators
• Experience implementing security, governance, or compliance controls within an enterprise or regulated environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical design reviews, mentor engineers, and provide technical direction without relying on formal authority
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to engineers and stakeholders
• Experience leading incident response, problem investigation, or post-incident reviews for production platform services

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for this role:

• Experience owning the architecture, reliability, and technical roadmap for a platform domain such as CI/CD, observability, cloud infrastructure, or container platforms
• Experience designing internal developer platforms, self-service capabilities, or reusable golden paths that improve developer productivity
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift features such as autoscaling, operators, admission controls, or multi-tenancy patterns
• Experience with policy-as-code, tenant isolation, DevSecOps tooling, or automated governance controls
• Experience with service mesh technologies and platform-level network or security architecture
• Experience with multiple cloud providers or designing portable cloud-platform capabilities
• Experience with FinOps practices, cloud-cost optimization, or automated consumption governance
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools or AI-ready infrastructure such as model serving, GPU or inference capacity, or vector databases
• Experience operating platforms in payments, financial services, or another regulated industry

• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting their development into platform engineering careers
