About the Role
Join a platform engineering team building and operating cloud infrastructure and data systems for a public safety technology product. You will own reliable, large-scale services and pipelines from architecture through deployment and on-call operations.
What You'll Do
Design and operate data infrastructure that ingests large volumes of data into object storage and indexes it in databases and vector stores for fast retrieval.
Make architecture decisions across storage tiers, distributed databases, and high-throughput messaging and streaming systems.
Deploy and scale containerized services across environments using declarative configuration and GitOps workflows.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and developer tooling for safe, frequent releases.
Support secure, auditable, reliable systems in regulated or federal environments.
Troubleshoot and tune services across application code, storage, and networking, and mentor engineers through reviews and technical guidance.
What We're Looking For
Five or more years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems, with 5 to 10 years of overall experience.
Hands-on experience with AWS production workloads, distributed systems, and large-scale data storage and retrieval, including hot and cold storage.
Experience building production data pipelines and owning systems from design through deployment and on-call operations.
A DevOps foundation, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated deployments.
Experience running containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with Terraform, GitOps, ArgoCD, and Helm.
Familiarity with Python or Go, PostgreSQL, vector databases, S3-compatible object storage, Kafka, or distributed SQL databases.
Backend or distributed systems experience in addition to front-end development is expected. Experience in FedRAMP, federal, or other regulated environments is beneficial.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $175,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, United States.
