Procore Technologies is the leading technology partner for every stage of construction. We empower construction teams to drive efficiency and mitigate risk through actionable AI & data-driven insights. For over 20 years, we have been transforming the industry with purpose-built solutions for construction professionals and we’re looking for talented people to help us build together.
We are looking for a Senior AI Platform Engineer, MCP & Connectors to design, build, and operate the Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors linking Claude to Procore’s business systems and internal services. As the Senior AI Platform Engineer, MCP & Connectors on our AI & Atlassian Engineering team within IT Infrastructure & Operations, you will work closely with the Platform & AI Architect, AI Platform Administrator, Security, GRC, and business system owners to deliver secure, reliable integrations across an enterprise Claude rollout. Your strengths in backend systems engineering, API architecture and authentication, and scalable infrastructure design will drive your success.
You will report to the Senior Manager, AI & Atlassian Engineering and will be based in our Austin, TX office with a hybrid work schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain custom MCP servers and connectors that securely link Claude to enterprise business platforms (including Salesforce, Zuora, NetSuite, Databricks, and Workday) based on prioritized business workflows.
- Take full ownership of production MCP servers, leading continuous iteration, versioning, and technical documentation following initial development handoffs.
- Evaluate third-party and vendor-provided connectors against Procore’s architectural requirements to make strategic recommendations on configuring, extending, or building custom solutions.
- Implement robust authentication and authorization frameworks—including OAuth flows, scoped access, token validation, credential rotation, and secret storage—while strictly preserving source-system permissions and tenant boundaries.
- Define clear tool interfaces, input schemas, and validation rules, establishing clear separation between read and write capabilities and enforcing approval paths for consequential actions.
- Build automated test suites and observability pipelines to monitor API contracts, authorization rules, system availability, latency, failure recovery, and downstream dependencies.
- Build and maintain the GitHub repositories, hosting infrastructure, secrets management, and SSO integration supporting the AI builder program, streaming operational data into central reporting pipelines.
- Manage integration releases, rollback procedures, incident resolution, and shared on-call duties while staying abreast of upstream updates to MCP specifications, Claude APIs, and connected systems.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of professional backend software or integration engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of scalable, high-reliability production services.
- Direct hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying at least one production Model Context Protocol (MCP) server or substantial MCP integration beyond demo environments.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js, with the practical ability to navigate and contribute effectively across both environments.
- Deep technical expertise in REST APIs, JSON schema validation, and asynchronous processing, alongside hands-on experience implementing OAuth flows, access scopes, and secrets management.
- Proven track record deploying cloud services through automated CI/CD pipelines, with built-in monitoring, alerting, and strategies for handling partial failures and upstream API changes.
- Demonstrated capability in standing up an enterprise integration or connector program from the ground up, translating complex business processes into focused technical specifications.
- Experience with Claude API capabilities, tool calling, Claude Agent SDK, Claude Code, or modern observability tooling (such as OpenTelemetry) is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
Strong-fit Background Might Include
- Backend Software Engineer with production experience in LLM tooling, agent protocols, or MCP implementations
- Enterprise Integration Engineer or Middleware Developer specializing in SaaS API orchestration (Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite)
- Cloud Platform Engineer or Systems Engineer focused on internal developer infrastructure and automated delivery pipelines
- AI Platform Engineer bridging foundation models with enterprise data pipelines and secure API gateways
