Senior Power Electronics Engineer

Deep Tech | High Voltage Power Electronics

Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid)
Salary: Competitive + Equity Scheme

The Opportunity

As the technical owner of the high-voltage drive system, you will design and optimize compact, efficient power converters capable of generating kilovolt-class waveforms within highly constrained form factors.

Your work will directly influence products deployed in AI computing platforms, robotics systems, and advanced edge devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and prototype high-voltage AC power converters operating in the kV range and kHz frequency domain.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate converter topologies including resonant, flyback, push-pull, and switched-capacitor architectures.
  • Design high-frequency magnetics, transformers, and associated switching circuitry.
  • Optimize converter size, weight, efficiency, and thermal performance for space-constrained electronics platforms.
  • Lead EMI/EMC strategy including filtering, shielding, grounding, and compliance preparation.
  • Define and execute reliability and qualification testing, including thermal, lifetime, insulation, and high-voltage validation.
  • Develop test methodologies, instrumentation setups, and characterization procedures for high-voltage systems.
  • Support customer integration activities through reference designs, application support, and design-in engineering.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturing activities and transfer products into volume production with manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to patent generation and intellectual property development within the power electronics domain.

Requirements
Essential

  • 5+ years' experience designing and delivering switch-mode power electronics from concept through to validated hardware.
  • Strong understanding of power converter topologies, magnetic component design, and closed-loop control systems.
  • Experience working with high-voltage electronics, or closely related power conversion applications.
  • Proven EMI/EMC troubleshooting and product compliance experience.
  • Hands-on laboratory expertise using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and high-voltage measurement equipment.
  • Experience with SPICE-based simulation tools and PCB design review.
  • Strong product engineering mindset with consideration for manufacturability, reliability, cost, and scalability.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional proficiency in English.

Desirable

  • High-voltage AC systems.
  • Plasma, electrostatics, X-ray, ozone generation, or other kilovolt-class applications.
  • High-frequency magnetic design and custom transformer development.
  • Consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or other OEM qualification environments.
  • Contract manufacturing and production transfer experience.
  • Embedded firmware or digital control of power converters.
  • Waveform generation, protection systems, and gate-drive optimization.

If you're excited by high-voltage power electronics, advanced converter design, and solving difficult engineering challenges that sit at the cutting edge of AI hardware, we'd love to hear from you.
