Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid, 2 days per week from home)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $145,000 - $180,000 Annually + Annual Bonus (based on experience)

Role Overview
The Senior Preconstruction and Estimating Manager provides overall direction and leadership for the collaborative preconstruction process and delivery. This role leads competitive bids, negotiated proposals, cost estimates, and budgets, and plays a key part in winning new work through client interviews and presentations.
This search is for a preconstruction leader with 10+ years of construction estimating experience, people management experience, and direct experience with a mid to large commercial general contractor. The role has a defined path to Preconstruction Services Director 1.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the overall preconstruction process, delivering competitive bids, negotiated proposals, cost estimates, analysis, and budgets.
- Prepare and execute project win strategies; prepare for interviews and lead internal and external presentations of estimates and proposals.
- Oversee preconstruction teams and ensure successful execution and completion of the preconstruction process.
- Manage relationships with key clients and design team contacts during preconstruction.
- Perform estimating tasks as needed, including self-perform estimating and general requirements estimates.
- Create conceptual budgets and report accurate project cost history.
- Partner with operations on project risk assessment, scoring, and completion.
- Review project business plans with operations and office leadership to ensure alignment and profitability.
- Build strong subcontractor relationships and support MBE, WBE, and SBA participation requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop estimating staff while promoting an inclusive team culture.
Required Background
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- 10+ years of construction estimating experience
- Preconstruction experience with a mid to large commercial general contractor
- People management experience
- Established subcontractor relationships
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in construction estimating software, quantity surveys, and reading drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, specific trades and scopes of work, and self-perform labor productivity
- Ability to conduct effective presentations and communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license
- Willingness to travel, including overnight, and work non-traditional hours to meet project needs
- Knowledge of Lean, Revit, or MBE, WBE, and SBA regulations is a plus
