Job Description:
The APAC Presales Technology Architect is a senior technical presales professional who drives customer success and business growth by translating business outcomes into scalable, supportable, and commercially viable data infrastructure solutions. The role serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers, partners, sales teams, and HPE business units across APAC.
The primary specialization is Structured Data & Hybrid Cloud. The role also maintains adjacent knowledge of Unstructured Data & AI and Data Protection to support cross-portfolio opportunities and complete customer outcomes.
Deep, current hands-on capability is a core requirement. The architect must be able to configure, integrate, troubleshoot, validate, and demonstrate solutions directly in lab, proof-of-concept, and customer environments, rather than relying solely on conceptual architecture knowledge.
Primary: Structured Data & Hybrid Cloud
Provide technical leadership, solution architecture, customer advisory, and presales support for enterprise storage, mission-critical data platforms, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes and container platforms, hybrid cloud data infrastructure, storage networking, data mobility, workload modernization, and consumption-based delivery models.
Adjacent: Unstructured Data & AI
Maintain working knowledge and support opportunities involving scale-out file and object storage, AI-ready data platforms, data lakes, analytics infrastructure, high-performance data pipelines, and data management for AI workloads.
Adjacent: Data Protection
Support customer engagements involving backup and recovery, cyber resilience, disaster recovery, ransomware recovery, long-term retention, compliance, and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities

- Translate customer business priorities and technical requirements into functional designs and scalable architectures.
- Quantify business impact and communicate solution value in customer and executive language.
- Build consultative relationships with technical leaders, CxOs, line-of-business stakeholders, and customer thought leaders.
Solution Architecture & Technical Execution
- Design, configure, integrate, right-size, and document end-to-end solutions, including third-party and ecosystem components.
- Produce clear architecture designs, configurations, sizing, bills of materials, proposals, and customer-facing deliverables.
- Evaluate alternatives and identify technical trade-offs, assumptions, risks, supportability considerations, and remediation options.
- Lead technical workshops, demonstrations, proofs of concept, benchmarks, laboratory validation, and customer evaluations.
- Create reusable reference architectures, blueprints, qualification frameworks, demonstration playbooks, and presales methods.
Opportunity & Account Support
- Lead technical strategies for complex and strategic opportunities from qualification through closure.
- Develop technical win strategies, competitive differentiation, and responses for RFI, RFQ, and RFP activities.
- Contribute to account planning, pipeline creation, opportunity prioritization, forecasts, governance, and technical approvals.
- Identify unmet needs, modernization opportunities, whitespace, cross-sell, and upsell potential.
Regional Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as the APAC technical focal point for the primary solution domain and provide guidance to country presales teams.
- Collaborate across Storage, Hybrid Cloud, GreenLake, Services, Compute, Networking, AI, Software, engineering, and product teams.
- Engage partners, ISVs, hyperscalers, and service providers to build integrated and differentiated solutions.
- Share customer requirements, market trends, competitive gaps, and portfolio feedback with global business units.
- Mentor peers and junior architects, lead enablement, and drive reuse of regional best practices and technical assets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
The position may be appointed at Senior / Expert scope based on business need and candidate capability.
- First-level university technical degree or equivalent technical qualifications; advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications in HPE technologies, Kubernetes or OpenShift, virtualization, public cloud, security, data protection, disaster recovery, enterprise architecture, or project management. Equivalent demonstrated experience may be considered where appropriate.
