Through working closely with other Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, business domain experts, and other members of DT, the Senior or Principal Data Engineer will have the opportunity to provide significant business value through leading the design and delivery of scalable Data Engineering capabilities on high value problems. A Day in the Life • Place emphasis on delivering value through design, development, and leading the deployment of data engineering pipelines and solutions which leverage excellent software engineering practices • Work collaboratively with data scientists, software engineers, and business SMEs (Process Engineers, Automation Engineers, Reliability Engineers, other business domain experts) in providing data pipelines and workflows which are critical to delivering data driven solutions • Work collaboratively across DT to ensure proper architecture, security, exception handling, testing, and code development standards are adhered to • Design and develop data workflows and pipelines necessary for algorithm and ML solution deployment and maintenance for chemical manufacturing domains including predictive maintenance, reliability, preventing downtime, industrial automation and optimization, demand forecasting, and improving health and safety • Leverage deep software development expertise, code development standards, data engineering, system design, and advanced technologies, to enable the delivery of data-driven projects • Design, define, and develop technical platforms, frameworks, and applications, to provide data, business intelligence, and information • Network internally and externally to build relationships that foster technology transfer and collaboration • Assist with the promotion of digital transformation, training and development of other Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Analysts, and other peers throughout the organization You Bring This Value • BS (MS strongly preferred, and PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field • For a Senior Data Engineer: 4+ years professional hands on software development experience with a PhD, or 6+ years’ experience with an MS degree, or 8+ years’ experience with a BS degree • For a Principal Data Engineer: 7+ years professional hands on software development experience with a PhD, or 9+ years’ experience with an MS degree, or 11+ years’ experience with a BS degree • Demonstrated ability to drive a project, and work both independently and in a team • High level of enthusiasm and a love of data, software development, and data engineering • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, including strong data, technical, and mathematical knowledge and skills • Strong Python, JavaScript, and/or Java programming and scripting skills • Strong experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and/or PostgreSQL • Strong experience with software engineering oriented data engineering systems, including stream-processing systems, dbt, Big Data querying systems, MongoDB, Cassandra, integration of data from multiple data sources, ETL techniques and frameworks, and/or messaging systems • Experience working with large structured and/or unstructured data and technologies • Specialty skills in large scale computing, cluster computing, and/or cloud computing (Azure preferably) • Experience with Linux, Unix, Git, and software development testing frameworks Preferred Qualifications • MS strongly preferred, with a PhD preferred • 9+ years professional hands on software development experience with a PhD, or 11+ years’ experience with an MS degree, or 13+ years’ experience with a BS degree • Experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, Docker, and/or CI/CD frameworks • Proficiency and expertise in Real Time historian data, SQL, NoSQL, Graph Databases, and/or NewSQL database technologies • Strong programming and scripting skills in other languages, such as C#, C++, Julia, or Scala • Experience with VS Code • Experience working with Data Scientists on designing and delivering scalable, end to end advanced analytics solutions • Specialized experience in providing data engineering solutions in various Data Science domains, such as Predictive Maintenance, Forecasting, Real Time streaming analytics, Image Analysis leveraging deep learning methodologies, and optimization • Experience with modern Data Engineering, ML and Data Science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, NLTK, Seaborn, Dplyr Competencies Build Partnerships Drive Innovation Grow Capabilities Promote Inclusion Motivational Fit Technical Skills Deliver Results We Offer We offer an environment where we encourage personal and professional growth and where you will be rewarded for your performance and results.
