About Netchex Netchex is a payroll and human capital management (HCM) software company serving industries with deskless and hourly workforces, including hospitality and restaurants, manufacturing, healthcare, and automotive. Our platform supports the full employee lifecycle—from hiring through retirement—and is built for people who are on their feet all day, not sitting at a desk. Our product team is small, collaborative, and moves quickly. As we continue to scale, we're looking for a Senior Product Designer who can take ownership of the design thinking behind core product workflows and partner closely with product and engineering to bring thoughtful solutions to life. Role Overview This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role and is not a management position. You will serve as a senior design voice within a small product design team, reporting directly to the Head of Design and collaborating closely with Product Owners and Engineers. You'll own the design thinking behind complex product workflows—focusing not just on how experiences look, but on how they work. We are looking for someone who can bring clarity, structure, and well-reasoned design solutions to ambiguous problems. Our team works primarily with Claude Design and Figma. We value designers who are comfortable incorporating AI into their design process to accelerate exploration, improve communication, streamline documentation, and create clearer handoffs for engineering. Key Responsibilities Product Design & User Flows Own end-to-end design thinking for core product workflows, from problem definition through execution. Design intuitive, low-friction experiences for deskless, hourly, and high-turnover workforces. Prioritize usability and workflow effectiveness over purely visual aesthetics. Partner directly with Product Owners and Engineers throughout the design process. Translate ambiguous problems into clear, thoughtful, and actionable design solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a strategic thought partner to Product Owners and help define problems before jumping into solutions. Collaborate closely with Engineers to ensure design intent is clearly understood and effectively implemented. Communicate design decisions and reasoning clearly to product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders. Ask thoughtful questions to identify gaps, assumptions, and missing requirements in briefs or product discussions. Participate actively in design reviews, implementation discussions, QA, and iterative improvements. AI-Assisted Design Workflow Use AI tools, including Claude or similar technologies, to accelerate design exploration, documentation, communication, and engineering handoff. Identify opportunities to automate or simplify repeatable steps within the design-to-development process. Help establish efficient workflows that reduce ambiguity and enable engineering teams to focus more on building and improving product systems. Design Craft & Systems Work primarily in Figma and AI-assisted design tools as part of the day-to-day workflow. Maintain consistency across a growing product ecosystem. Balance speed and clarity with strong visual and interaction design. Understand when detailed design work is necessary and when a rough concept or sketch is sufficient. Contribute to the evolution and consistency of product design patterns and systems. About You You are a systems thinker who naturally identifies friction within workflows and looks for opportunities to simplify complex experiences. You are comfortable working independently and navigating ambiguity. Rather than waiting for detailed instructions, you ask the right questions, explore the problem, and develop thoughtful solutions. You are also someone who: Thinks beyond individual screens and considers the complete user journey. Asks strong questions before beginning a solution. Is comfortable working directly with engineers on a daily basis. Uses AI tools as part of their problem-solving and design process. Communicates clearly and concisely across different audiences. Values functional, intuitive workflows as much as visual quality. Can confidently explain the reasoning behind design decisions. Thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in Product Design. Strong experience designing SaaS or B2B products. Advanced proficiency in Figma. Experience using AI tools, such as Claude or similar platforms, as part of the design or workflow process. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable presenting and explaining design decisions to Product and Engineering stakeholders. Demonstrated experience collaborating directly and regularly with Engineers. Strong ability to work through ambiguous and complex product problems. Portfolio demonstrating product design thinking and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have Experience designing for HCM, payroll, HR technology, or related enterprise platforms. Experience designing for deskless, hourly, or high-turnover workforces. Experience building or contributing to a design system. Familiarity with HTML/CSS or the ability to lightly review front-end code to better communicate design intent. Portfolio Requirement Please include a link to your portfolio with your application. We are particularly interested in seeing how you approach complex or ambiguous product problems—including your design thinking, decision-making process, and problem-solving approach—not just the final visual screens
