About UpHill At UpHill, our mission is to increase clinical capacity so healthcare professionals can focus on what matters most - the patients. Healthcare teams are either stretched thin by work that can be automated or weighed down by waste that can be avoided. UpHill's intelligent automated platform uses hospital data and patient conversations to turn chaos into useful and efficient interactions. We build conversational AI agents, intelligent clinical pathways, and care orchestration tools that empower clinicians to work at their full potential - deployed across leading hospitals in Europe, with 100K+ lives impacted and over 1 million clinical interactions mediated. UpHill Route is a certified Class IIa Medical Device. We're a team of curious and creative people who believe technology should enhance - not replace - the work of healthcare professionals. If you're excited about making a real impact in one of the most meaningful industries in the world, you just might be an Uphiller. Today we're looking for a Senior Product Designer to own design at UpHill end to end - shaping the products clinicians and patients use every day, from the first sketch to what ships in production. About the role Our design team is one person short and that person is you. This is a full-ownership role: you'll be the only designer at UpHill, responsible for everything from early product ideation to the pixels that ship. We're looking for someone senior enough to run with that scope on their own, comfortable moving fast, making decisions independently, and being deeply proactive about what the product needs, not waiting to be told. You'll take features from a rough idea to a validated, polished, shipped experience, and you'll do it largely on your own, which means you'll lean hard on prototyping (leveraging AI tools) to explore ideas quickly and get to conviction faster than a traditional design process allows. You'll also single-handedly own and evolve our design system, and you'll need to be comfortable jumping into production to make quick UI/UX changes yourself rather than routing everything through a queue for the Engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to define how design works at a healthcare AI company from the ground up, with direct influence over the products used by clinicians and patients across Europe. Responsibilities Own the product design process end to end - from ideation and discovery through prototyping, validation, and launch - across UpHill's AI agents, clinical pathways and care orchestration solutions. Prototype heavily and quickly, leveraging AI-assisted design and coding tools to explore directions and de-risk decisions before they reach engineering. Build, maintain and evolve UpHill's design system single-handedly, keeping it consistent and scalable as the product grows. Make fast, hands-on production UI/UX changes, working directly in the codebase or shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers when something needs to ship now. Partner closely with Head of Product, founders, product managers, engineers, and clinical stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into clear, well-designed solutions. Talk to clinicians, hospital staff, and patients to validate design decisions and uncover real workflow pain points. Set and uphold the bar for design quality, usability, and accessibility across every product surface. Ensure design decisions account for the realities of a regulated, Class IIa medical device environment. Main requirements 6+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that shows real end-to-end ownership - from concept to shipped, live product. Experience building or independently owning a design system. Strong prototyping skills, with hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g. Figma AI, v0, Lovable, Cursor, Framer, or similar) to move from idea to testable prototype fast. Comfortable making UI/UX changes directly in production. Highly proactive and self-directed - you don't need a spec handed to you, and you're comfortable being the sole designer driving decisions. Sharp visual and interaction design fundamentals. Strong communication skills, able to explain the "why" behind design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluent in English. Strong plus Experience designing for healthcare, clinical workflows, or other complex, regulated domains. Experience designing AI-driven interfaces. Front-end coding skills (HTML/CSS/React) to ship changes directly, no handoff required. Experience as the sole or founding designer at an early-stage or scale-up startup. Background designing complex B2B or enterprise software. Familiarity with accessibility standards and medical device design/regulatory considerations (e.g. IEC 62366). What you'll get Be part of a dynamic, mission-driven team shaping the future of healthcare Competitive salary Comprehensive health insurance Top-tier equipment — new MacBook + budget for peripherals Flexible schedule and hybrid work model Direct impact on patient outcomes — the AI you build handles real clinical conversations No-BS culture: small, senior team where your voice shapes product and architecture decisions Ready to shape the future of healthcare with us?
