Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋 Actively looking for a new opportunity to work on a team focusing on projects with real business impact? Do you thrive in environments where you can help raise the bar for quality, drive collaboration, and mentor others to reach their full potential? If so, you might be in the right place! Lightspeed is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Onboarding team. Our customers are retailers ranging from simple merchants running a single store with a small product catalog, to scale merchants managing multiple stores and thousands of products, all of whom need to get up and running on Lightspeed as quickly as possible. In this role, you'll help define and optimize the onboarding funnel across these different retailer profiles, obsessing over reducing steps, cutting manual effort, and using data to help merchants hit key onboarding milestones in their first month and build a regular selling habit on POS. You'll help define a vision through iterative design and delivery. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of transforming complex workflows into simple, clear customer journeys with user-friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with other workflows. You excel at identifying opportunities to deliver value and thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers and product managers to create exceptional customer experiences. What you’ll be doing: Problem Solving: Lead project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design reviews and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions. Turn nebulous concepts into specific ideas that are useful and delightful product features. Explores and integrates AI and emerging technologies to shape new approaches. Embedding Systems Thinking: Have UX expertise and deep understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro-interactions can help users complete a task. Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and user-friendly. Understand how to use the current design system best to ensure consistency across platforms and contribute to its continuous improvement. Driving User-Centricity: Draw insights from research and data, and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions. Build relationships and advocate for the user when collaborating with cross-functional teams in product, engineering, and marketing. Collaboration: Be a positive role model and culture carrier within the studio as well as an advocate for design within the Lightspeed organisation. What you need to bring: At least 5 years of practical, in-house product, UX/UI design experience. Excellent communication skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and explain work with focus and brevity. Strong aesthetic skills to help elevate the visual identity of our brands. A curiosity to continuously evolve your design process by leveraging AI tools to deliver better, more user-centered products. Applied experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design - from the responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap. An acute level of self-awareness and deep empathy - for both the customer and your team’s goals. A deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You don’t just care about “how it looks,” or “what we should design,” but “why are we designing this at all?” An arsenal of design tools such as Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and other AI prototyping tools. We know that people are more than what’s on their CV. If you’re excited about the opportunity but unsure whether you meet every requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply. Be a changemaker You’ll enjoy: Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture working from our Auckland office. Genuine career growth opportunities within a company that's continuously expanding. Make a meaningful impact by helping merchants grow their businesses through creating or improving products and addressing customer feedback. Be part of a team large enough for growth yet agile enough for real impact. Work on high-traffic products with a global user base. Opportunity to work alongside other highly skilled engineers, learn and expand your skill set, forge wonderful relationships and make your mark within the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed culture, a true Canadian tech success story. Plus benefits designed to keep you happy, healthy and fulfilled. Lightspeed share scheme (we are all owners) Unlimited paid time off policy Work remotely from anywhere in the world for up to 60 days per year Flexible working policy Health and wellness benefit of $500 per year Mental health online platform and counselling & coaching services Paid leave and assistance for new parents Free LinkedIn Learning license Paid Volunteer day Premium cover if you sign up for health insurance with Southern Cross Subsidised public transportation to cover up to 75% of your commuting costs Complimentary breakfast and lunch options, along with fresh fruits, snacks, and beverages stocked in the office Exciting events hosted regularly by our Auckland Culture Club Secure, full-time parking facilities Newly renovated office space located in Newmarket (Auckland) Dog friendly environment Do you need additional support during an interview? At Lightspeed, we acknowledge that we face the unique challenge of engaging with and hiring diverse talent from marginalised communities with different personal or cultural norms. For many candidates from these underrepresented groups, a job interview can be an extra stressful or challenging experience. Taking this nuanced perspective into consideration, Lightspeed is pleased to offer Supported Interviews! This means you’re welcome to bring whānau or a support person along with you during any Lightspeed interview (excluding initial recruiter phone call). This ensures you have the best opportunity to display your full range of strengths. To all recruitment agencies: Lightspeed does not accept unsolicited agency resumes. If we have not directly engaged your company in writing to supply candidates for a specific vacancy, Lightspeed will not be responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes.
