The Mission you’ll be helping us with
BizScout is a technology startup headquartered in Austin, TX, and we are revolutionizing the way everyday individuals engage in buying and selling businesses, moving away from the traditional realm of Wall Street. We believe that buying small businesses should be as easy as buying real estate. We serve as the vital link between one generation’s legacy of small business creation and the next generation who will buy and innovate within them.
Our platform acts as a rapidly expanding marketplace for business transactions, complemented by a dedicated brokerage arm providing personalized support to real people. With a grand vision to pair technology with brokerage services, we aim to establish ourselves as the premier destination for business exchanges, driven by genuine human connections, and we need your help to do it.
Our parent company
Contrarian Thinking, led by Codie Sanchez, a former Wall Street and Private Equity investor, is a leading digital media company, education business, and investment firm. We are one of the fastest-growing business media companies in the USA, with over 100 million views per month and 5+ million social followers. We own holding companies of small businesses that comprise our enterprise and are launching several new channels and businesses in 2024.
Your future opportunity with us
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to build and own the design lifecycle across BizScout’s full product surface area, from the product experiences that power our marketplace to our broker platform and more, taking BizScout to the next level. You’ll partner closely with business stakeholders and engineers to lead design initiatives end-to-end, guide design conversations, and mentor as we scale the design functionality across our products.
Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, you’ll be a trusted thought partner, shaping product direction, owning design decisions, evolving the design system, and pushing the bar on craft across both product and brand surfaces. Above all, you value autonomy and have a relentless bias for action with end-to-end ownership.
The ideal candidate is a product designer who moves fluidly between Figma and AI-powered prototyping tools, using AI tooling not just to ideate, but to build, iterate, and deploy multiple working prototype versions before engineering touches a line of code. You think in systems, design with minimalism having information architecture as your foundation, and obsess over the design systems as a force multiplier for the team.
What your day-to-day would look like
- Take an abstract business problem and shape the experiences around it.
- Lead end-to-end design for all product initiatives across BizScout's ecosystem, supporting all audiences, including buyers, brokers, and sellers, from discovery and ideation, through prototyping, to high-fidelity handoff and post-launch iteration.
- Use AI tooling like Replit, Claude design to rapidly build, iterate, and deploy multiple prototype versions of a flow or surface; turning ideas into testable, interactive experiences before engineering scopes a single ticket.
- Drive information architecture for new and existing product surfaces, defining navigation, hierarchy, taxonomy, and content structure that scales as our product surface grows.
- Evolve and steward BizScout’s design system, including components, tokens, patterns, experiences, so that velocity and consistency scale together across product and marketing.
- Pair with the engineers, lead design initiatives, guide design conversations across product/engineering/marketing, and actively mentor on it.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply and marketing teams to translate ambiguous problems into shippable design solutions.
- Drive design QA across engineering output, ensuring shipped product reflects the design intent, brand standards, and accessibility expectations.
- Stay current with the AI-design tooling and productivity landscape and bring the best of it into the team’s day-to-day workflow.
- Participate in design critiques, contribute to documentation, and help shape how design and engineering work together at BizScout.
- Conduct user interviews and research to empathize with the real world user problems
What you’ll bring to the table
- 5-7 years of experience as a product designer, with a track record of shipping complex, end-to-end product experiences in production.
- Mastery of Figma. Components, variants, auto-layout, advanced prototyping, dev mode handoff, and the plugin ecosystem.
- Strong information architecture experience. You can take an ambiguous product space and design the structure, taxonomy, and navigation that makes it usable at scale.
- Strong design systems experience. Building, scaling, and stewarding a system that’s used in production across multiple product surfaces.
- A portfolio that demonstrates depth of thinking, clean design, Information Architecture chops, and design craft. Not just polished screens.
- Entirely up to date with the AI tooling and productivity landscape for product design. You actively use tools like v0, Lovable, Bolt, Figma Make, Claude Design, Replit or similar to accelerate design output.
- Ability to build, iterate, and deploy multiple working prototype versions using AI tooling. Going beyond static mockups into interactive, testable experiences before engineering involvement.
- A genuine interest in continuously learning and integrating new AI-design tools as the landscape evolves.
- Strong understanding of conversion-focused design. Funnels, hierarchy, motion, minimalism, and what makes users convert
- Comfortable with animation and motion tooling (Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie, or similar) is a big plus.
Personality & Cultural fit
- You’re not afraid to jump into uncharted territory from Day 1 and product results
- You want to solve challenging abstract product & design problems
- You understand the startup grind & hustle and you’re excited to be a part of it every day.
- You are a self starter with an action, execution & iteration oriented mindset to get the job done no matter what.
- You’re not afraid to pick up new things, learn fast & execute in parallel.
- You are a master generalist — fluid across product, marketing, and brand surfaces — who likes taking ownership end-to-end.
- You breathe design & stay up to date with design + AI tooling trends.
- You’re a champion in your craft & push your peers to be a champion with you.
- You’re not afraid to be opinionated and back it up with real data.
BizScout Work Culture
Ship fast, learn faster, iterate relentlessly.
We're building the future of business transactions through technology and genuine human connections. We move fast, care deeply about our work and each other, and celebrate wins on the path to making real impact.
Core Principles
Shipped Beats Perfect. A good design in production teaches you more than a great one in Figma. Make the trade-off, write down why, ship it, and let real users tell you what to fix.
Prototype, Don't Pitch. The fastest way to win an argument here is to build the thing. Use v0, Lovable, Claude Design, Replit — whatever gets a clickable version in front of people while the debate is still theoretical.
Leverage Everything. AI tools, research, references, your network. What you can learn and integrate matters more than what you already know. The internet is your co-pilot — use it.
Think → Learn → Execute → Repeat. Speed of iteration is our competitive advantage. Break ambiguous problems into shippable chunks. Get feedback early, course-correct fast, keep moving.
Show Your Thinking. We care more about how you got to the layout than the layout. Bring the rationale, the discarded options, the constraint you designed around — that's what makes a critique useful.
Own End-to-End. From IA to design system to shipped UI to design QA — you own it. We hire designers who take responsibility for outcomes, not deliverables.
Don't Over-Design. Three strong directions beat twelve. Nail the core flow before the empty states, the micro-interactions, or the fourth button variant. Minimalism isn't a style here — it's how we stay fast.
Your First 30 Days with BizScout
7 days
- Your stack is live — Figma, AI prototyping tools, Replit & Claude design — and you've spent real time inside our existing product & design system.
- You can name our surfaces, our personas (buyer, seller, broker), and where each one currently breaks down.
- You’ve started noting down real business problems and mind-mapping the solutions.
- You've shipped your first contribution alongside your peer — a component, a page, a small surface. Something real, in production.
- You've sat in two or more product conversations and formed your first opinion about a problem worth solving.
14 days
- You've taken an ambiguous business problem and brought clarity to it — scope, structure, and a point of view on what to build.
- You're owning a design initiative end-to-end, with working prototypes rather than static mockups.
- You're leading IA and design system conversations, not just contributing to them.
- You're active in critiques, documentation, and product/engineering ceremonies — and pushing back where it matters.
30 days
- You navigate the design system, the product surfaces, and the marketing stack independently.
- You've shipped 1–2 initiatives end-to-end, and led at least one where others depended on you.
- You’re not just driving the design conversations but also championing the thought process behind it to scale your thinking
- You've mapped the design debt, IA bottlenecks, and system gaps you've found, and you're already fixing the highest-leverage one.
