Senior Product Engineer

Why we exist

Every decision a business makes, from the suppliers it trusts to the risks it accepts, eventually shows up as spend. This makes spend data the most honest record of how a company operates. Not the strategy deck or the org chart: spend describes what really happened.

This record exists, but it's scattered across dozens of systems and decades of legacy technology. Companies spending billions a year still can't easily answer: Who are our suppliers? Where are we exposed? What are we paying for twice?

We believe a business that can't see itself clearly can't make great decisions. Deducta exists to give the world's most complex organisations a true picture of how they operate, and the intelligence to act on it. Our ambition is to become the category-defining platform for enterprise data intelligence.

How we do it

Most tools start and stop with dashboards. We start with the hard part: turning fragmented, messy enterprise data into a consistent foundation people can trust. Then we use AI to make it conversational, so anyone in the business can ask a question and get an answer they can act on.

We're well funded, growing fast, and have already processed more than £1 trillion of spend for some of the world's largest and most recognisable companies. Our partners use Deducta to deliver major business transformations orders of magnitude faster.

Why this role matters

The data is only half the story. As AI gets better at analysing large volumes of data, the hard part shifts to the product: helping customers explore and understand what the model finds, designing for trust, and turning insight into action.

You’ll shape how customers work with agentic AI, balancing the stability and reliability enterprises expect with the new, agent-driven experiences we’re building at the cutting edge. You’ll have real autonomy in how you approach it, working in a small, high-trust team with genuine influence over product, architecture and how engineering grows.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and ship high-quality frontend experiences across Deducta's platform.

  • Work directly with customers to understand their problems, and turn those insights into product decisions.

  • Build interfaces that make large datasets, dynamic metrics and AI-generated analysis clear and useful.

  • Design for the limits of AI, so customers know when to trust an answer and how to check it.

  • Push the boundaries of applied AI, both in the product and in how we build it.

  • Own problems end to end, from definition to deployment, making sound calls on architecture, usability, performance and maintainability along the way.

Success in this role means:

  • Customers go from data to decisions: Features you've shipped help customers explore AI-generated analysis and act on it, not just search through data.

  • Trustworthy AI experiences: Customers can see where an answer came from and when to check it, so their confidence in Deducta grows as they use it more.

  • A product foundation others build on: The components and patterns you've built are fast, consistent and reused across the product by the team.

Who you are

You're a senior product engineer who cares as much about the problem as the code, and takes ideas all the way to production. You don't need a background in enterprise data or procurement. We care about how you think and the quality of the products you've built.

You might be the right fit if you have:

  • Strong JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals, with experience building high-quality frontend applications.

  • Experience making complex data, information or workflows easy for people to understand and act on.

  • A clear view of what AI systems can and can't do, and how good product design accounts for outputs that aren't always right.

  • Sound judgement on architecture and product trade-offs, and the ability to explain the reasoning behind your decisions.

  • A track record of owning problems from investigation through to production.

  • High standards for testing, code quality and maintainability, and clear communication with engineers, customers and stakeholders.

  • A founder mindset: you see a problem and feel empowered to work out how to solve it.

We care most about how you think, the quality of your work and how you approach unfamiliar problems. Previous startup experience isn't essential, but the pace, initiative and judgement to thrive in one are.

How we work

We believe in freedom and responsibility. We set clear priorities, share the context and trust people to decide how to deliver. You'll thrive here if you value:

  • Ownership: You own the outcome, not just the task. You deliver what you commit to, follow through when things get difficult, and own your mistakes.

  • Unreasonable hospitality: You treat prospects, clients and teammates with exceptional care as a default. You anticipate needs, communicate with clarity, and help others succeed.

  • Bias for action: We don’t have every answer upfront. You move things forward without waiting to be asked, take calculated risks, and adapt as you learn.

  • Craft: Moving quickly matters, but so does doing work that stays clear, reliable and useful as we grow.

  • System building: You create leverage beyond your own output, building processes, tools and documentation that others reuse and that keep working without you.

  • Candor: You tell the hard truth early, give and receive feedback thoughtfully, ask for help when you need it, and push back when priorities need to change.

  • Curiosity about AI: You’re excited by what applied AI makes possible, and you look for ways to use it in your own work.

As an early team member, you'll help shape our culture, our processes and where Deducta goes next. We're growing quickly, and this role will grow with us.
