Job Title: Senior Product Manager
Location: Remote, United States (New England or New York preferred), approximately 50% travel
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $185,000+ Salary plus annual bonus
Company Introduction
This role is with a photonics manufacturer headquartered in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, with additional operations in Massachusetts and New York. The company designs and manufactures light measurement systems, integrating spheres, reflectance materials, optical calibration solutions, specialty light sources, and custom precision optical systems used across aerospace and defense, remote sensing, semiconductor, automotive, LED and lighting, medical device, image sensor, and industrial photonic markets worldwide.
The company is in an active growth phase, expanding its portfolio and its reach into high-growth application markets. Product management is central to that growth: deciding where to invest, how to position a highly technical portfolio, and how to equip the sales team to win.
Role Overview
The Senior Product Manager owns one of the company's photonics, light measurement, or remote sensing product lines end to end, from product planning and roadmap through launch, growth, and phase out. This role translates market and application insight into differentiated solutions, prioritized product investments, and repeatable commercial growth across assigned markets.
The products are highly technical and complex, and clearly articulating their value in each application space is the heart of the job. You will identify where customers need to generate, control, measure, or calibrate light, understand the technical and business problems involved, and determine where the company can deliver differentiated value. You will assess and refine the product portfolio, define product line and go-to-market strategy, and communicate what the portfolio does to the sales team in clear, credible application language.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hardware product manager who has done this at a company with established product management processes, and who can make complex technology easy to understand for customers and sales teams. The role can be performed remotely, but much of what the company does is better shown than said, so expect frequent visits to company sites in New Hampshire and Massachusetts as well as customer visits, for approximately 50% travel overall.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and full lifecycle of an assigned product line, from concept and launch through phase out
- Assess the product portfolio, define product line and go-to-market strategy, and refine the portfolio to optimize revenue, profit, and inventory

- Translate technical needs into customer business outcomes such as cost, yield, throughput, quality, and repeatability
- Gather and prioritize product requirements and partner with engineering to define and deliver new products
- Build concise commercial and technical playbooks for priority applications, including target accounts, buying influencers, discovery questions, and proof points
- Assess competing solutions and alternative customer methods to establish the company's right to win, and recommend gaps to close through development or partnerships
- Support pricing, positioning, and sales activity with datasheets, presentations, white papers, and webinars
- Develop and execute go-to-market plans and product launches with Sales and Marketing
- Define, analyze, and report product metrics to measure success and guide strategy
