What to Expect:
The Senior Product Owner is responsible for product direction, scheduling and access strategy, and conversion performance across this product area — the front door of the member journey, covering scheduling and access for in-home health assessments and primary care visits before a visit occurs. This role partners closely with a dedicated engineering team, central Data and Quality Assurance practice teams, and external scheduling and health plan partners to translate business and member needs into a scalable, high-converting scheduling experience. This role sits at a critical point in the organization’s ability to convert demand into scheduled visits: a gap in this role directly slows member access, scheduling throughput, and the revenue and quality outcomes that depend on it.
The Senior Product Owner collaborates with senior leadership to evaluate business priorities, shape the product roadmap, and prioritize enhancements aligned with organizational objectives. Leveraging data-driven conversion analysis, modern scheduling technology, and close engineering partnership, this role drives measurable improvements in member access, scheduling conversion, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Core Platform Ownership
- Own product direction and backlog for the core scheduling platform across its roadmap, including initial scheduling capability, in-home and telehealth assessment scheduling, and quality and care-gap closure visit scheduling.
- Own product direction for the provider access and demand-capture scheduling engine, including geographic capacity balancing, progressive scheduling windows, and travel versus non-travel service rules.
- Partner daily with the dedicated engineering team, writing requirements, prioritizing the backlog, and defining acceptance criteria alongside the team’s technical and QA leads.
Access & Conversion Strategy
- Drive scheduling conversion initiatives, including real-time scheduling integrations with health plan partners and a broader partner API gateway strategy.
- Own a structured conversion optimization framework — measure, diagnose, model impact, implement, and validate — to identify and close conversion and outreach gaps.
- Use outreach and scheduling-acceptance analytics to prioritize technology and operational fixes affecting member reach and conversion.
Self-Service & Partner Enablement
- Drive expansion of self-service scheduling, including SMS-based self-scheduling for assessments and primary care visits, and a member self-scheduling portal and preference center.
- Own requirements for external scheduling and data partner integrations, including EHR platforms and third-party consumer scheduling networks, in partnership with engineering and partner organizations.
Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and release planning with the engineering team.
- Partner with central Data and Quality Assurance practice teams on canonical data standards and test automation practices as they apply to this product area's systems.
- Contribute domain requirements to the platform’s event-driven architecture as it matures.
- Own business case and investment documentation for these initiatives, partnering directly with Finance and senior leadership.
- Represent this product area in cross-functional and executive-facing planning, and serve as a functional mentor to other Product Owners across the organization.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required (Business Administration, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or related field preferred).
Experience
- 7–10 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, including time owning a complex, high-visibility product area with significant autonomy.
- Experience turning data into product decisions, including conversion funnel analysis, cohort or segment analysis, and prioritization grounded in measurable outcomes.
- Experience writing clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria, and shaping technical backlogs at a senior level.
- Experience partnering directly and daily with engineering teams in an Agile or Scrum delivery model.
- Experience presenting to senior leadership and representing a product area in cross-functional planning.
- Experience working with healthcare data and an understanding of HIPAA and protected health information (PHI) handling requirements.
