Job Type: Full-Time l Location: San Francisco l Department: AI Infrastructure Supply Chain l Reporting to: Technical Lead Director, Manufacturing and Quality | Work Location Type: #hybrid
IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada.
The Senior Product Quality Engineer owns product and manufacturing quality strategy, test methodology, and failure analysis for IREN’s rack-scale AI and accelerated computing platforms. Reporting to the Technical Lead Director, Manufacturing and Quality, this is a senior individual-contributor role that sets quality standards from NPI through volume production and sustaining, and serves as the senior escalation point for rack- and system-level hardware issues. The role partners closely with Engineering, Technical Sourcing, Integrated Planning, AI Hardware Supply Chain Operations, Data Center Operations, and OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners and key commodity suppliers to deliver hardware that meets IREN’s cycle-time, cost, quality, and yield targets at scale.
With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way - responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, test, and product quality for compute, storage, networking, or data center hardware products, ideally at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, or AI infrastructure company.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, independently structuring quality strategy, test plans, and corrective-action recommendations, and escalating only the highest-impact or most ambiguous decisions.
- Deep technical understanding of hardware architecture, with proven expertise defining requirements, testing, and validating high-performance compute and GPU systems.
- Proven experience collaborating with OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners to deliver high-quality data center server and accelerator products.
- Working expertise with manufacturing test solutions for data center infrastructure hardware, including test coverage, methodologies, and test infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience driving manufacturing operations, including reliability and quality requirements, First Article Inspection, and defining acceptance criteria for racks.
- Strong knowledge of quality methodologies and tools, including Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA), 8D, FMEA, SPC, and yield analysis, and experience managing BOMs and engineering changes in PLM tools and defining and managing spares for data centers.
- Experience working on AI hardware, including NVIDIA GB200/GB300 and VR200 rack-scale programs and liquid-cooled systems preferred.
- Strong hands-on problem solving, data analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to operate autonomously across design, manufacturing, quality, test, operations, and supplier teams.
- Own the product and manufacturing quality strategy and processes for IREN’s next-generation AI hardware systems, ensuring on-time delivery against defined quality standards.
- Define test methods and quality standards, and drive continuous improvement projects with OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners and key commodity suppliers to meet product and process quality targets.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting across rack- and system-level hardware, owning the Major Issue List and driving issues to closure.
- Execute rigorous Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA) to resolve underlying technical problems and achieve quality and yield goals.
- Engage early with Engineering teams to implement robust DFx requirements (DfM, DfA, DfT, DfQ, DfS) and ensure products meet cycle-time, cost, quality, and yield targets.
- Drive the continuous evaluation and advancement of test coverage, methodologies, and infrastructure to maximize hardware reliability, performance, and scalability across the product lifecycle.
- Conduct First Article Inspection and Source Inspection reviews on hardware components and assemblies.
- Create and maintain BOMs, engineering change notifications, and manufacturing process changes through product lifecycle management tools.
- Establish quality KPIs (First Pass Yield, DPPM, DOA, early-life failure rate, defect Pareto) and governance cadences with manufacturing partners and suppliers, and report performance to leadership.
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point and mentor for quality, manufacturing, and test engineers as IREN’s AI hardware portfolio scales.
- Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.
- This role involves frequent travel to manufacturing partner, supplier, integration, and data center sites.
