The role in detail

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager with a strong banking background to join our Technology department for Outsourcing Services. You will be employed by Grant Thornton Greece and dedicated to one of our clients in the banking sector, working on-site at the client’s premises in Athens under a hybrid model You will own the end-to-end coordination and delivery of complex, multi-stream technology programs in a highly regulated environment. You will act as the link between business, technology, operations, risk and external vendors, keeping every workstream aligned with strategic objectives, budget, milestones and regulatory requirements.

This is a delivery leadership role, not a hands-on engineering one. You will need enough technical understanding to challenge technical teams and vendors, and enough banking knowledge to translate business needs into clear, deliverable plans.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Lead large-scale technology programs across multiple projects, workstreams, internal teams and vendors.

  • Set up and run program governance: roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, RAID logs, steering committees and executive reporting.

  • Own the program budget, including actuals, forecasts and change control over scope, schedule and cost.

  • Manage vendors and third-party providers against their contractual obligations, scope, quality and timelines.

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear technical deliverables and implementation plans, working closely with architects and technical leads.

  • Oversee the full delivery lifecycle: requirements, design, build, testing, deployment and post-go-live stabilization.

  • Make sure delivery complies with the bank’s governance, security, risk and regulatory frameworks.

  • Present complex technology topics to senior stakeholders in clear business language, with recommendations that support decision-making.

To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Project/Program Management or Technology Delivery, of which at least 3 years in banking or financial services.

  • Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stream technology programs, including budget ownership and vendor management.

  • Solid understanding of banking products, systems and processes.

  • Working understanding of enterprise technology environments (applications, integrations, APIs, data flows), enough to discuss solutions credibly with technical teams.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.

  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps and/or MS Project.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable with both C-level business stakeholders and technical teams.

  • Fluency in Greek and English, written and spoken.

  • A proactive, delivery-oriented mindset, with strong ownership and attention to detail.

Strong Assets:

  • Experience delivering transformation, modernization or migration programs within a bank (e.g., core banking, data platforms, digital channels).

  • Domain knowledge in loans and credit portfolios, securities, investments, treasury or asset servicing.

  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks that affect IT delivery, such as DORA, EBA Outsourcing Guidelines, ECB/SSM requirements or GDPR.

  • Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, PgMP, SAFe, PSM or CSM.

  • Previous experience in a consulting or outsourced delivery environment.
