Senior Project Manager

Salary Range: $124,000.00 To $165,000.00 Annually Senior Project Manager (Transportation) / Vancouver, WA Founded in 1973, DJ&A is a multidisciplinary professional services consulting firm with office locations throughout the western U.S. and growing. Our team of 500+ professionals work across the country to deliver a diverse range of engineering, environmental, survey, mapping, landscape architecture, and planning projects for federal, state, local, tribal, and private clientele. DJ&A is seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager (Transportation) with 8+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years of project leadership and/or supervision. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of the transportation design, engineering, and survey industry and a strong understanding of the regional and local market drivers and trends. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in identifying project objectives, communicating those objectives to a multi-disciplinary team, and managing the team to deliver on them. Experience in strategic business development, client and co-worker relationships, networking, and project management is also desired. Preferred experience: Delivering and leading complex multi-disciplinary transportation projects for state departments of transportation, local, federal, and/or tribal clients. Delivering projects for the Oregon and/or Washington Departments of Transportation. Delivering projects for local public agencies (cities, counties, etc.) in and around the Portland/Vancouver Metropolitan Area. Delivering projects subject to Federal contracting requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Project Management: Apply advanced knowledge and skills to facilitate the completion of high-quality, cost-effective projects. Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, teaming partners and other project stakeholders to effectively lead the delivery of highway and bridge projects through the environmental compliance, preliminary and final design, and construction phases. Plan, lead, direct, monitor, and/or support teams in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects varying in size and complexity from conception to completion. Undertake full responsibility for project delivery and integrate elements of project management throughout the project life cycle, including construction engineering services. Manage multiple projects concurrently and ensure project objectives are met, and delivery is achieved within the set time and budget. Coordinate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, quality and agency requirements, specifications and standards are achieved. Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams including environmental compliance, survey/GIS, geotechnical, materials, hydraulics and hydrology, bridges and structures, transportation, and construction engineering and/or management. Manage the financial success of projects in conjunction with the project coordinator, accounting manager, and group leader. Establish and maintain client contacts on technical and project administration matters. Implement QA/QC procedures. Staff Development: Have a passion for leadership, mentoring, and career development of supervised staff members. Assign and review work of staff, including technical documentation, drawings, and specifications. Provide technical guidance and training for staff. Engage in recruiting and retention efforts to ensure DJ&A hires the best talent and supports processes that encourage staff longevity. Be accountable for staff performance and results. Business Development: Support business development activities through early client interaction, scope of work development, interviews, and on-going client relationships. Participate in strategy development, strategic pursuit development, competitor analysis, and research for the market area and growth opportunities based on trends. Ensure client success and satisfaction by listening to their needs, advising where appropriate, and producing high quality deliverables that meet their desired scope of work and schedule needs. Manage and prepare strategic/key proposals, contracting and teaming negotiations, and establishing sustainable relationships with key consultants to support growth initiatives. Attend marketing/capture update calls, and ensure all assigned opportunities are kept current in tracking system. Additional Required Skills and Capacities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Independent, self-motivated, results-oriented, and dynamic. Ability to work under tight deadlines and with geographically dispersed teams. An ability to travel to build teams and relationships. Flexibility for occasional local and regional travel. Education and Experience: Professional licensure in respective professional disciplines (engineering, planning, etc.) Eight or more years of related experience. Two or more years of leadership experience. Working knowledge of MicroStation (ORD), and/or AutoCAD. Physical Requirements: The majority of work is conducted in a typical office environment where the work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. When work is performed in an office setting, there may be some minor lifting of books, charts, regulatory materials, etc. Field conditions may include mountainous terrain or proximity to high traffic volume areas with a variety of environmental and weather conditions. Some strenuous walking, climbing, or bending will be involved during field site activities. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to travel to various project sites. Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
