job Overview

A key enabler of Mainspring’s mission is the ability of its team to deliver solutions based on our linear generator technology that solve customer problems in the cross-section of resiliency and clean power generation. This includes site due diligence, design engineering, permitting, construction operations, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

A Senior Project Manager will:

  • Serve as the primary advocate for project success and Mainspring Energy’s lead field representative, coordinating cross-functionally with engineering, logistics, manufacturing, commissioning, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful delivery throughout the full project lifecycle

  • Lead concurrent turnkey power generation projects, as well as oversee multiple third party developed equipment sale projects, from development through commissioning and closeout

  • Manage permitting and utility interconnection processes across multiple municipalities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, commissioning) and external partners to execute safely, eliminate scope gaps, on schedule, and within budget

  • Own critical path schedule management, proactively mitigating technical, procurement, and construction risks

  • Oversee contract administration, bid packaging, subcontractor management, and change order negotiation

  • Drive cost control initiatives to meet and improve project margin targets

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental impacts and risk mitigations, and regulatory standards

  • Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, turnover packages, and warranty administration

  • Conduct site visits and job walks, with up to 15% travel required

  • Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management experience, with emphasis on distributed energy systems (solar, BESS, fuel cells, microgrids) and turnkey EPC delivery

  • Demonstrated ownership mentality, with full accountability for equipment sales and turnkey EPC project performance, including site safety, schedule adherence, scope control, cost management (including change order negotiation), and contractor quality oversight

  • Comprehensive knowledge of development, permitting, contracting, procurement, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, logistics, and construction execution

  • Proven experience leading RFP development, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and full procurement lifecycle management

  • Strong financial management capabilities, including cost tracking, forecasting, budget control, and change order negotiation using tools such as Procore and MS Project

  • Demonstrated expertise navigating AHJ permitting processes and managing electrical and gas utility interconnection requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, scheduling in Project, Reporting in PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive, shared workflows, remote collaboration tools)

  • Experience in Project Management software (Procore)

  • Highly effective in remote work environments, leveraging digital collaboration platforms to manage distributed teams and maintain execution momentum

  • Proven ability to manage competing high-priority tasks across multiple concurrent projects while maintaining schedule discipline and attention to detail

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated success resolving technical, commercial, and personnel-related challenges

  • Deep understanding of contractor qualification, safety programs, QA/QC processes, and project governance best practices

  • Does your experience not meet all of our posted requirements? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to positions unless they meet every listed requirement. At Mainspring, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, flexible, and collaborative environment, so if you want to help us transition the world to clean and affordable electricity, and don’t meet all posted requirements for a particular role, we’d still love to hear from you. Mainspring can sometimes be flexible enough to shift responsibilities for the right person, or otherwise identify open or upcoming roles that may better fit your professional background.
