Senior QA Automation Engineer - Philippines (Hybrid)

About the Role:

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will own software quality for our Application Development team, a group of full stack developers building web applications and the APIs behind them. You will be the team's dedicated quality expert: testing new features hands-on, designing and building our test automation framework from the ground up, and creating the automated regression suites that let us release quickly and with confidence. This is a hands-on role that combines manual and exploratory testing with automation engineering, and you will use modern AI-assisted tools to make our testing faster and smarter.

What you will do:

• Design, build, and maintain a scalable test automation framework for web and API testing using modern tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Build and own automated regression suites covering functional, smoke, API, and end-to-end scenarios, and keep them fast, stable, and easy to maintain.
• Perform thorough manual and exploratory testing of new features, especially where automation is not yet practical, and convert findings into durable automated coverage.
• Create and automate tests for our REST APIs, validating functionality, data integrity, error handling, and authentication.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so every build gets fast, reliable feedback.
• Use AI or AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, test data creation, and automation development, and evaluate new AI testing tools for the team.
• Investigate test failures and determine whether the cause is a product defect, an environment issue, or a needed framework improvement.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and developers to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and make sure user stories are testable before development begins.
• Participate in design and code reviews to identify risks early and shape effective test strategies.
• Identify, document, and track defects clearly, and work with developers through resolution.
• Establish QA standards, best practices, and documentation, and report on test coverage, quality metrics, and release readiness.
• Mentor developers on testing best practices and help build a quality-first culture across the team.

We are Seeking People Who:

• Have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Have 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including at least 4 years of hands-on test automation.
• Have designed and built at least two test automation frameworks from scratch, not only maintained existing scripts.
• Have deep, hands-on experience with modern web automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, with Playwright strongly preferred.
• Are proficient in at least one programming language used for test automation, such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or Java.
• Have experience testing and automating REST APIs using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, or Playwright's API testing features.
• Have experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Use AI-assisted coding and testing tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar assistants, in their daily work and know when AI output needs correcting.
• Have a strong grasp of testing types and techniques, including functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, exploratory, and cross-browser testing.
• Are comfortable with SQL and can write queries to validate data.
• Have experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Have experience with performance, accessibility, or security testing, which is a plus.

Work Location / Type:

• This is a hybrid role based in the Philippines, minimum 3 days office time in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
• Hours: 9:00AM - 6:00PM US Eastern Time.
