Show job description
Most insurance companies build products around policies. We’re building ours around people.

At Veygo, we’re building insurance that feels effortless to use and helps young people become safer, more confident drivers. We are connecting customers with insights, rewards and services that make insurance valuable every day.

As Senior QA Engineer, you’ll lead quality engineering within a cross-functional squad, combining hands on testing with the technical depth of test automation and reliable, scalable systems. You’ll work closely with Product, Design and Engineering to shape solutions, influence architecture and build quality into the customer experience.

Why this role matters

Customers rely on Veygo to work when they need it. Whether they’re buying cover, managing a policy or using our app, a confusing journey or unexpected failure can quickly undermine their confidence.

As our products grow across web, mobile and backend services, this role helps us introduce new features without compromising reliability. You’ll bring quality into decisions early, helping teams spot risks, prevent avoidable problems and understand when a change is ready to release.

Your impact will extend beyond individual releases. Through reliable automation, practical testing strategies and coaching, you’ll help teams across Veygo deliver better customer experiences with greater confidence.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Own your squad’s testing strategy. Define how products are tested end to end, balancing risk, coverage, speed and release confidence.
  • Stay hands-on. Explore new journeys, investigate unexpected behaviour and test changes alongside the automation you build.
  • Build reliable automation. Design and maintain frameworks across web, mobile, APIs and system-level journeys, holding test code to the same standards as production code.
  • Improve delivery feedback. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, investigate failures and keep test suites useful, reliable and maintainable.
  • Bring quality into discovery. Help shape requirements and influence architecture so teams consider risk and testability from the start.
  • Make quality a shared responsibility. Partner with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers to understand customer journeys, challenge decisions constructively and resolve issues.
  • Raise standards across teams. Mentor QAs and engineers, share effective practices and improve processes that create unnecessary effort or slow feedback.
  • Develop our use of AI. Use AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools to improve testing and efficiency, applying sound judgement and taking ownership of the results.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll have significant experience in software development in test or software engineering with a strong focus on automation and quality. You’ll be comfortable setting direction while staying close to the code and the customer experience.

You’ll Bring

  • Strong practical experience with test automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Appium, Espresso, XCUITest or WebdriverIO.
  • Experience writing clean, maintainable test automation in TypeScript or JavaScript.
  • Experience testing native Android and iOS apps, including running builds locally and validating behaviour across devices, operating systems and app versions.
  • An understanding of testing journeys across web, mobile, backend services and third-party integrations.
  • Experience with cloud-based device testing platforms such as BrowserStack.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and how automated testing supports reliable releases.
  • An approach that brings quality, risk and testability into the earliest stages of development.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to influence technical decisions through constructive challenge.
  • Curiosity, practical judgement and a willingness to share your knowledge.

Our technology

Our core test automation uses Cypress, with TypeScript and JavaScript for web and system-level testing. Our wider testing ecosystem includes Playwright, Selenium, Appium, Espresso, XCUITest and WebdriverIO.

We build native Android and iOS apps using Kotlin and Swift, with Android Studio, Xcode, Firebase App Distribution and TestFlight supporting development and distribution. BrowserStack provides device and browser coverage, and CircleCI runs our automated test suites.

We also use Claude Code and other agentic engineering tools in our day-to-day work.

Why Veygo?

At Veygo, we’re here to unlock independence.

For young drivers, getting on the road is a massive life moment—freedom, confidence, responsibility, and finally not needing a lift everywhere. For parents, it’s a big moment too: letting go, while knowing their child is protected and supported.

We make insurance the easy bit.

Since launching in 2016, we’ve helped more than one million customers and sold over eight million policies by making car insurance simpler, more flexible and built around real life. Now, we’re evolving from short term cover into a brand that supports young drivers through their first years on the road helping them build safer habits, manage costs and move forward with confidence.

Backed by Admiral Group, we combine scale up energy with the strength, trust and expertise of one of the UK’s leading insurers. Our teams get the freedom to experiment, the ownership to make things happen and the platform to build products that reach millions.

If you want to solve real customer problems, work with smart cross functional teams and help shape the future of insurance for young drivers, you’ll fit right in.
