Senior QA Engineer (Finance and Data), B2B Contract

Length: 3 months initially, with an extension likely

Start date: ASAP

Location: Remote, within 80km of Iași, Cluj-Napoca or Bucharest

Hours: 9am to 5pm UK time (11am to 7pm in Romania)

Why this role

You're the tester people go to when the numbers don't add up.

In a lot of QA roles that work gets squeezed in around regression testing. Here, it's the main job.

What's in it for you

You'll work on the financial side of a busy UK online marketplace, where getting the data right really matters.

You'll have time to investigate problems properly, trace them back to the cause and see them fixed.

You'll work alongside experienced QA engineers at hedgehog lab, so you won't be on your own.

Who you'll be doing it for

hedgehog lab is a digital product consultancy and certified B Corp with 20 years of experience. We help public and private sector clients across retail, health tech and financial services with their digital transformation.

You'll be placed with one of our clients, a UK online marketplace, in a product team of engineers and QA.

What you'll be doing

Testing ledger and financial processes to make sure every transaction is recorded correctly.

Checking reports against source data and finding where they don't match.

Using SQL to dig into data issues and work out what's causing them.

Writing clear bug reports that engineers can act on quickly.

Mostly manual testing, with some automation where it saves time.

What you'll need

Senior QA experience, with a good amount of it spent testing financial systems, ledgers or accounting data.

Confidence writing SQL queries to investigate data.

Experience reconciling figures between systems and checking reports for accuracy.

A methodical way of working out why data is wrong.

Some test automation experience, or a willingness to build it.

Fluent English, written and spoken.

Availability now or at very short notice.

Nice to have

Playwright, JavaScript or TypeScript.

Experience in ecommerce or online marketplaces.
