Are you a seasoned QA professional who sees quality as more than executing test cases? Do you enjoy challenging business requirements, understanding complex data flows, and finding gaps across systems? If you want to combine hands-on testing with deep involvement in analysis and data-centric quality assurance, this is your opportunity to make a real impact at Swiss Re — one of the world's leading reinsurance companies.
About the Role
As a Senior Quality Assurance professional on the ODS-P platform, you will be a driving force for quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle — from early requirements discussions all the way through to end-to-end validation. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that goes far beyond conventional test execution. You will collaborate closely with analysts and engineers to ensure requirements are complete and testable, build deep business and technical knowledge to test complex data flows and database logic, and help evolve automated test coverage alongside an experienced automation QA colleague. If you're someone who asks why before how, you'll thrive here.
Key Responsibilities
- Own QA activities across the SDLC, including risk-based test planning, test design, execution, regression testing, defect analysis, and evidence of test coverage
- Partner with business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders early in the analysis phase to challenge ambiguities, identify gaps and edge cases, and shape clear, testable acceptance criteria
- Develop a deep understanding of end-to-end business processes, data flows, and system dependencies to ensure testing validates business outcomes — not just individual components
- Design and execute functional, integration, and end-to-end tests across different services, enterprise applications, REST APIs, and connected systems
- Contribute to automated test creation and maintenance, partnering with the automation QA specialist to improve coverage and make regression testing more effective
- Investigate complex defects by tracing behaviour across application logic, interfaces, and underlying data — working closely with developers and database specialists to identify root causes
- Use SQL and data investigation techniques to validate database-related changes, data consistency, transformations, and business rules implemented beyond the application layer
- Collaborate within an agile delivery team, using Azure DevOps and CI/CD processes to communicate test results, manage defects, and support informed release decisions
- Continuously improve QA practices and share knowledge, helping the team prevent defects earlier and strengthen quality across the full solution
About the Team
ODS-P (Operational Data Storage – Pricing) is one of Swiss Re's most strategically significant platforms, serving a dual purpose at the core of the company's pricing and reporting infrastructure. It acts as both the IFRS+ costing calculation engine and the central pricing data repository — calculating, validating, storing, and processing critical pricing data across L&H (Life & Health Reinsurance), P&C Re (Property & Casualty Reinsurance), and CorSo (Corporate Solutions) business lines.
Built to the highest standards of security, compliance, and reliability, ODS-P is a cloud-native, enterprise-grade platform that integrates with multiple enterprise systems and underpins Swiss Re's ability to price, calculate, and report at scale. Joining this team means working on a platform that sits at the very heart of Swiss Re's business — where software quality directly enables global financial operations.
About You
You are a curious, analytical, and collaborative QA professional who wants to understand why a solution works — not only whether a test passes. You bring a strong foundation in testing, the confidence to ask difficult questions during analysis, and a genuine interest in learning the business domain. You are comfortable exploring unfamiliar data and technical logic, and you take ownership of quality across teams and systems rather than limiting yourself to a narrow testing remit.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- 5+ years of professional QA experience, with a proven track record of testing complex, business-critical enterprise applications using functional, integration, regression, and end to-end testing
- Ability to read, write, and review automated tests in Java or a similar programming language, including via the use of AI-assisted tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to support test case creation and debugging
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks, including UI automation (e.g. Playwright), REST API testing (e.g. REST Assured or Postman), and CI/CD pipeline integrations of automated test
- Experience collaborating with analysts and stakeholders on business requirements and acceptance criteria, proactively identifying gaps and improving testability
- Practical SQL skills for querying, comparing, validating, and reconciling data across systems, including validation of data transformations and business rules
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with Oracle databases, advanced SQL, data reconciliation, or testing database procedures and transformations
- Experience with Azure DevOps for test management, defect tracking, and release coordination
- Knowledge of insurance or reinsurance, particularly pricing, financial calculations, or reporting processes
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with an ownership mindset and a genuine interest in understanding complex business processes
For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 3,800 and EUR 6,300 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
