The Senior Remediation Specialist is responsible for managing complex loan remediation cases from initiation to resolution, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills to analyze intricate loan scenarios, develop effective solutions, and drive cases to completion with minimal supervision. The specialist serves as a key liaison, engaging in strategic communication with business leaders and stakeholders to secure alignment and transparency throughout the remediation process.
Responsibilities
• Manage the loan remediation pipeline by tracking, prioritizing, and updating all assigned cases to ensure accurate status reporting and timely resolution of complex remediation scenarios.• Collect, verify, and image all required documentation in compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines.• Perform timely follow-ups with internal teams and third-party vendors to obtain necessary documentation and remediate outstanding issues.• Validate borrower information, loan terms, and remediation actions to ensure accuracy prior to finalizing updates or decisions.• Review loan files for completeness and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.• Take ownership of assigned cases and drive them to resolution with minimal supervision, applying sound judgment to determine appropriate remediation actions or escalation paths.• Analyze complex loan scenarios and develop practical, efficient solutions to resolve issues while aligning with organizational objectives.• Collaborate with lines of business and key stakeholders to coordinate efforts, secure alignment, and identify process improvement opportunities.• Communicate strategically and professionally with leaders and stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and timely decision-making.• Mentor and assist junior-level employees to build team capability and knowledge.• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.• 3+ years in a supporting role within Loss Mitigation or related functions such as Underwriting, Closing or Quality Assurance
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn proprietary loan systems.• Demonstrated accuracy in reviewing and correcting loan documents to ensure compliance and prevent errors.• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders at all organizational levels.• Proven ability to organize, track, and verify loan documentation across multiple systems and formats.• Experienced in precise data entry and maintaining consistency across systems to meet compliance standards.• Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, work independently with minimal supervision, and consistently meet deadlines.• Responsive to changing processes and procedures; able to receive and provide clear direction in a dynamic environment.• Strong ability to quickly grasp concepts, make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently.• Comfortable adapting to frequent changes in regulatory requirements and internal workflows.
Desired Skills and Qualifications• Associate’s degree in business, finance or related field.• Solid understanding of underwriting criteria and requirements for multiple loan products, including FHA, VA, and conventional mortgages.• Proven experience conducting root cause analysis to identify issues, determine corrective actions, and improve remediation processes.

Compensation Range: $20.43 - 34.28 per hour. Actual compensation may vary within the range provided, depending on a number of factors, including qualifications, skills and experience.
