Job Description
This is a remote position.
₱100,000–₱120,000/month · Permanent Full-Time · 100% WFH · Australian Day Shift
If you're an experienced Australian residential estimator who can pick up a set of drawings and turn them into a number a builder can confidently build from, this is the kind of role where you'll have real ownership.
You'll work directly with an Australian custom-home builder, taking estimates from drawing review and take-offs through trade pricing, tender, purchase orders and handover to construction.
This isn't a take-off-only role.
We're looking for someone who understands the build behind the drawings — someone who notices missing scope, questions a quantity or quote that doesn't make sense, knows when an allowance is too light, and raises an RFI or assumption rather than simply guessing.
You'll have room to use your experience, improve how estimating is done and, as the business grows, take increasing ownership of the estimating and pre-construction function.
What you'll be doing
-
Own residential estimates from drawing review through to tender and construction handover
-
Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, material calculations, BOQs and detailed trade-based cost plans from architectural, structural and engineering drawings
-
Identify missing scope, drawing discrepancies and cost risks, documenting assumptions, exclusions and allowances where information is incomplete
-
Prepare trade scopes and RFQs, obtain subcontractor and supplier pricing, compare quotes like-for-like and negotiate where required
-
Check trade pricing against your own quantities, historical rates and current market pricing — not simply accept the lowest quote
-
Manage tender pricing, margins, contingencies, preliminaries, variations and value-engineering opportunities
-
Convert approved estimates into clear purchase orders and trade packages and support subcontract agreements, progress claims and cost reporting
-
Maintain accurate estimating records, drawing revisions, pricing information, rate books and a clear trail from estimate through to final project cost
Requirements
You'll need to be a genuine construction estimator, with estimating, take-offs, BOQs and cost planning forming the majority of your experience.
We're looking for:
-
Around 5+ years of construction estimating experience, including strong recent experience estimating Australian residential construction
-
Proven ability to independently estimate from architectural and structural drawing sets
-
Strong practical knowledge of residential construction, quantities, materials, waste allowances, labour and trade scopes
-
Experience with subcontractor/supplier RFQs, quote comparisons, negotiations and trade letting
-
Commercial judgement — you understand margins, preliminaries, contingencies, allowances and the cost implications of missing scope
-
Experience with purchase orders, variations and contract/cost administration
-
Strong Excel skills and hands-on experience with estimating/take-off software such as Bluebeam, CostX, PlanSwift, Cubit, Buildxact, Wunderbuild or similar
-
Strong English communication and the confidence to deal directly with Australian construction staff, subcontractors and suppliers
-
The organisation and accountability to work independently from home, follow up outstanding items and keep your work properly documented
Experience with Australian custom homes, NSW residential construction, BASIX, BAL and DA/CDC/CC documentation, or Wunderbuild would be highly regarded.
The kind of estimator we're looking for
Good estimating isn't just measuring what's visible on a drawing.
You should be thinking about what could have been missed — site preparation, excavation or rock, retaining, stormwater, structural requirements, waterproofing, glazing, joinery, services, external works, access, waste, preliminaries, compliance and other costs that can materially change the final build price.
If a subcontractor quote doesn't match your take-off, we expect you to notice.
If documentation is incomplete, we expect you to ask.
And when you say an estimate is complete, the costings, calculations, quotes, assumptions and notes should be there to support it.
Benefits
₱100,000–₱120,000 per month, based on experience and demonstrated capability.
You'll be employed directly by Offshore 24/7, which has been placing Filipino professionals with Australian businesses since 2008.
-
100% work from home
-
Complete WFH equipment provided
-
HMO from Day 1
-
20 days paid leave per year — 15 annual + 5 sick leave, accruing from Day 1
-
13th month pay
-
Government-mandated benefits
-
Annual salary and performance review
-
Monday to Friday, Australian day shift
-
Permanent full-time employment
-
Ongoing training and professional development
-
Long-term opportunity to take greater ownership of the estimating and pre-construction function
Our recruitment process
We don't expect a senior estimator to prove their ability by simply giving polished interview answers.
Shortlisted candidates will complete a small practical residential estimating exercise using a drawing set. You'll be asked to demonstrate how you approach quantities, costing, assumptions, missing information and commercial risk.
It's designed to be relevant to the actual job and give experienced estimators the opportunity to show what they can do.
If you're looking for a long-term WFH role where your estimating experience will genuinely be used — rather than spending your day producing take-offs for someone else to finish — we'd like to hear from you.
