WHO WE ARE
At Trustly, we're building a smarter, faster, and more secure financial future by revolutionizing the world of payments. As a global leader in Open Banking Payments, we are establishing Pay by Bank as the new standard at checkout, providing unparalleled freedom, speed, and ease to millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.
Our Ambition: To build the world’s most disruptive payment network and redefine what the payment experience should feel like.
Trustly is a global team of innovators, collaborators, and doers. If you are driven by a strong sense of purpose and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-growth environment, join us and be part of a team that’s transforming the way the world pays.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are building a dedicated Risk and Compliance Assurance function in the Second Line of Defence, and we are seeking a Senior Risk and Assurance Manager to own a single view of the second-line risk and control environment across Trustly's EU and UK regulated entities.
As the Senior Risk and Assurance Manager, you will lead entity-level assurance and second-line risk oversight for Trustly’s EU and UK regulated entities, supported by the Global Enterprise Risk Management framework. This role will be part of a wider community of risk and assurance managers, which will also cover specific compliance domains (such as Financial Crimes Prevention, Safeguarding, Consumer Protection, ICT and Resilience).
The focus of this role is the regulated entities in the UK and EU. You will confirm that domain testing reflects local requirements and local regulator expectations, and report findings to the entity Boards. You will serve as the primary point of contact for UK and EU regulators on risk and assurance matters.
This role is suited to a seasoned assurance, compliance, and/or second-line risk professional with experience in regulated financial/payment institutions, ideally with experience of engaging with regulators.
What you'll do
Manage assurance at an entity level for Trustly’s EU and UK regulated entities, and be responsible for risk in these entities.
Own a single view of the second-line control and risk environment across Trustly's EU and UK regulated entities, and contribute to standardised reporting including Key Risk Indicators and unified tracking.
Confirm the local regulatory applicability of domain testing scope and methodology.
Own the assurance opinion, reporting of findings, and the risk view to each entity Board and local management team, and support what the entity Compliance lead attests to.
Contribute to the annual assurance planning through active engagement in an assurance forum, jointly reviewing and signing off scope with the relevant domain assurance managers.
Serve as a primary point of contact toward the relevant EU and UK regulators/supervisors on risk and assurance matters, representing the function confidently and credibly.
Support Internal Audit's reliance assessment by maintaining a transparent, evidenced audit trail per test, and document any risk-accepted changes to testing cadence.
WHO YOU ARE
5+ years experience as a compliance assurance and/or second-line risk manager
Payments sector experience preferred
Experience engaging with EU and/or UK financial supervisory authorities is desired
A confident and articulate approach, demonstrating an ability to represent the risk and assurance function credibly and build productive relationships across business teams, and to advise and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels, including senior management and Board members.
Sound understanding of the EU and UK regulatory landscape relevant to payment institutions
Ability to lead end-to-end assurance reviews; planning, scoping, reporting and issue validation, including knowledge of control testing methodologies, sampling, issue rating, and evidence standards.
A firm grasp of the three-lines model and the independence boundary between second and third line, with the judgement to keep assurance independent.
High attention to detail in the preparation of control findings and management-level documentation.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts and present to senior leadership, Boards, and regulators.
Willingness to work flexibly to collaborate with team members across different time zones.
