- This is a high-impact opportunity to partner closely with our Group Investments Division, supporting the Group CIO, Chief Operating Officer and Financial Risk teams at a time of ongoing change and growth.
- Operating as a true Risk & Compliance partner, you’ll work alongside the business to support sound decision-making, strengthen the control environment and help deliver good outcomes for customers and policyholders.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, Life, Investments and DPM, you'll partner closely with our Group Investments division to support effective risk management, compliance and governance outcomes.
This is a genuinely business-facing role where you'll work alongside senior stakeholders to navigate risk, balance commercial considerations, and embed strong governance into day-to-day decision making. You’ll also support key transactions, new products, portfolio activity and business change initiatives, helping ensure risk, compliance and governance considerations are understood early, and appropriate controls are built in from the outset.
What you’ll be doing
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted Risk & Compliance advisor to the Group CIO, Chief Operating Officer and their teams.
- Provide clear, pragmatic advice on licensing, regulation, operational risk, compliance and governance matters
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, strengthening first-line ownership of risk while providing effective second-line oversight and challenge
Change & Strategic Initiatives
- Provide risk and compliance support for transactions, new products, portfolio activity, outsourcing and business change, including review of agreements, RFPs and service arrangement
- Facilitate risk workshops, scenario analysis and risk assessments so risks and controls are clearly understood before decisions are made
Risk Frameworks & Governance
- Maintain and improve compliance plans, risk and control registers and other risk and compliance framework documents
- Facilitate periodic risk and control self-assessments and support the ongoing development of governance, accountability and control effectiveness.
- Maintain and monitor governance, risk and compliance (GRC) activity, ensuring clear ownership and timely follow-up of exceptions
Regulatory & Compliance Advisory
- Provide guidance on financial services regulation, including ASIC requirements and the prudential framework applying to a life company
- Support regulatory interactions, reviews, consultations and lodgements, including licence matters, Responsible Manager appointments and breach notifications, while maintaining constructive relationships with regulators
- Monitor regulatory change and external developments, translating their impact into practical actions.
Reporting & Insights
- Deliver accurate and timely risk, compliance and governance reporting for management, committees and Boards
- Monitor incidents and breaches, identify themes, support escalation and remediation, and give senior stakeholders clear, practical recommendations and risk insights on complex matters.
Risk Culture & Capability
- Develop and deliver training, coaching and guidance that builds risk awareness and supports a strong risk culture
- Act as a go-to resource for operational risk, compliance and governance queries across the Investments business
The skills and experience you’ll need
You’re an experienced Risk & Compliance professional who thrives in a business-facing environment. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Investments to support sound decision-making, strengthen governance, and deliver effective risk and compliance outcomes.
You'll bring strong operational risk and compliance experience, a practical understanding of the financial services’ regulatory environment, and the ability to balance risk considerations with commercial objectives.
In addition, you’ll have:
- Proven experience in operational risk and/or compliance within financial services, including supporting investment or front-office teams.
- Experience designing, implementing and maintaining effective risk and compliance frameworks across a diverse financial services business
- Working knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC-regulated environments and prudential requirements, with the ability to interpret regulatory obligations and apply them in a practical business context. Experience within an APRA-regulated environment will be highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence challenge and build credibility at senior levels.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with sound commercial judgement
- The ability to simplify complex regulatory and risk concepts for non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical, facilitation, reporting and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
