Senior Risk Manager

ABOUT THE BANK

Our client is a BSP-regulated, digital-first bank in the Philippines, insured by the PDIC. It serves retail and SME customers through a mobile-led model and is strengthening its risk function as it grows its deposit and lending business.

THE ROLE

This is a step-up opportunity for an experienced risk manager who is ready to lead the function. You will head the bank's Risk Management team, report directly to the Board of Directors, and act as the independent voice on risk across the bank.

You will inherit an existing framework and a team of four risk managers (Credit, Operational, Financial and IT Risk) and be expected to strengthen what is there rather than start from zero. Your first year will centre on a bank-wide risk assessment and a sharper risk appetite, limits and reporting structure.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead the Risk Management function and manage the four risk managers directly

• Support the Board in setting the bank's risk appetite and translate it into a risk limits structure, KRIs and escalation protocols

• Run a comprehensive enterprise-wide risk assessment covering credit, operational, regulatory, market, liquidity, technology and other material risks

• Own credit risk oversight: portfolio monitoring, early-warning indicators, counterparty assessment and guidance on loan product design and collections

• Build and maintain credit risk tools and scorecards that lower portfolio risk

• Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis and capital planning

• Independently assess, challenge and escalate risks owned by business and functional leaders, including fraud, cyber and third-party risk in a digital model

• Report to the Board and its committees on the bank's risk profile, significant exposures and regulatory matters

• Lead BSP examination preparation and responses for the risk function

• Keep the bank current on regulatory changes and emerging risks, and build a strong risk culture at every level

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You are a senior risk manager or AVP who has been doing a good part of this job already and is ready to own it.

Required

• 7+ years in risk management at a BSP-regulated bank or financial institution, with at least 5 years in a senior or managerial risk role

• Hands-on credit risk experience: portfolio monitoring, limits, policy or model work

• Have taken part in BSP examinations and prepared responses to regulator findings

• Have presented risk matters to a Board, Board committee or executive risk committee

• Have managed risk officers or analysts directly

• Clear communicator who can hold a constructive, independent position with senior management

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field

Strong advantages

• Built or redeveloped credit scorecards or credit risk models yourself

• ICAAP, stress testing or capital planning experience

• Experience in a digital bank, thrift bank, rural bank or e-money issuer

• Commercial bank background

• FRM, PRM or CFA

• Available to start within 30 days

This role is probably not for you if

• You are already a Head of Risk or CRO at a universal or commercial bank

• Your risk experience is in a shared-services or offshore centre with no BSP or Board-facing accountability

• You have only worked in one risk discipline (for example IT risk only or operational risk only)
