About the role

Life Without Barriers is looking for an experienced Senior Roster Officer to support the effective and sustainable management of our workforce within Child, Youth & Family services NSW Team.

Working closely with rostering and operational teams, you'll play a key role in coordinating and optimising workforce allocation, ensuring rosters meet the needs of children and young people while remaining compliant with relevant requirements.

You'll also provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to Roster Officers, helping build capability, maintain consistent processes and foster a collaborative, accountable team culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and optimise rosters to ensure appropriate workforce coverage, compliance and effective use of resources.
  • Work closely with operational managers and frontline workers to respond to changing service needs, staff availability and unplanned roster changes.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to Roster Officers, including allocating work and supporting capability development.
  • Act as the regional rostering subject matter expert and escalation point for complex rostering and operational issues.
  • Promote standardised rostering processes, supporting training, continuous improvement and effective use of rostering systems.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams and promote culturally safe rostering practices that support the identity, belonging and cultural connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

About you

You're an experienced rostering professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with practical leadership and problem-solving skills. You understand the importance of getting the right workforce in place while balancing operational requirements, compliance and the needs of children and young people.

You will bring:

  • A Certificate II in administration, business studies or equivalent demonstrated skills and experience.
  • Experience in rostering and workforce coordination in residential care, including experience providing coaching and team leadership.
  • Working knowledge of workforce management principles, SCHADS award and roster optimisation.
  • Demonstrated experience using rostering software and systems to support workforce and operational requirements. UKG Pro knowledge highly regarded.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively.
