Job Description:
Senior S2P Transformation SME (Techno-Functional)
Location: Mumbai,
Hybrid (on-site workshops and remote engagement)
Experience: 10+ years
Engagement Type: Contractual – 6 months
Industry Preference: Manufacturing, Building Materials, Chemicals,
Industrial Products
Role Overview
We are
looking for a senior Source-to-Pay (S2P) transformation expert to support the
validation of an AI-first S2P platform implementation for a large, multi-entity
manufacturing organisation.
The
individual will work with business and technology stakeholders to validate the
proposed future-state procurement processes, assess the platform design, and
ensure that the solution reflects real-world procurement requirements across
direct and indirect procurement, imports, and complex manufacturing supply
chains.
This is a validation and design assurance role, not a greenfield implementation or
training assignment. The ideal candidate will bring strong procurement domain
expertise and the ability to challenge, validate, and sign off on the proposed
operating model and platform design.
Key Responsibilities
- S2P
Design Validation: Review and validate
the proposed Source-to-Pay process design, workflows, business rules, and
platform configuration against business requirements.
- Procurement
Expertise: Assess direct and indirect procurement
processes, including raw material sourcing, imports, supplier management,
purchasing, and procurement operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Operating
Model Assessment: Validate the proposed
division of responsibilities between the business and Global Business
Services (GBS), identifying activities that should remain business-owned
versus those suitable for centralisation or outsourcing.
- Manufacturing
Supply Chain Context: Evaluate procurement
scenarios involving industrial raw materials, chemicals, international
sourcing, import/export processes, and complex supplier ecosystems.
- Techno-Functional
Assessment: Bridge procurement business requirements and
platform capabilities, ensuring the proposed workflows and automation
adequately address operational realities.
- Gap
and Risk Identification: Identify missing
scenarios, process gaps, design assumptions, control weaknesses, and
potential implementation risks; recommend practical corrective actions.
- Stakeholder
Collaboration: Work with procurement leaders, process
owners, transformation teams, and technology partners during design
reviews and workshops.
- Sign-off
and Recommendations: Provide structured
feedback, document findings, and support business validation and sign-off
of the future-state design before production rollout.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- 10+
years of overall experience, with substantial hands-on experience in
procurement and S2P transformation.
- Strong
expertise across end-to-end Source-to-Pay / Procure-to-Pay,
particularly the procurement stages preceding invoice processing and
payment.
- Proven
experience in both direct and indirect procurement.
- Strong
understanding of manufacturing procurement, including raw materials,
supplier sourcing, purchasing operations, and complex supply chains.
- Experience
with international sourcing, imports, exports, and associated procurement
processes.
- Demonstrated
experience reviewing or validating procurement process designs, target
operating models, workflows, or procurement platform implementations.
- Ability
to translate business requirements into functional process and system
requirements and challenge technology-led designs where necessary.
- Strong
understanding of GBS/shared services operating models and procurement
centralisation.
- Excellent
stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, analytical, and
documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience
in manufacturing, building materials, glass, construction chemicals,
industrial products, or related sectors.
- Prior
involvement in a large-scale S2P transformation, procurement automation,
or enterprise procurement platform rollout.
- Exposure
to AI-enabled procurement platforms, digital procurement solutions, and
workflow automation.
- Experience
working across multiple business entities, geographies, or complex
operating models.
- Experience
with platforms such as SAP Ariba, Coupa, Ivalua, SAP S/4HANA procurement,
or comparable S2P solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal
candidate is a procurement transformation practitioner who understands how
procurement actually operates in a manufacturing business. They should have
sufficient techno-functional knowledge to assess whether a proposed platform
design is fit for purpose, identify overlooked business scenarios, and
confidently challenge design decisions.
Candidates
with backgrounds as Procurement Transformation Leads, S2P Process Owners,
Procurement Excellence Leaders, or senior procurement SMEs are particularly
relevant.
Profiles to Avoid
- Candidates
whose experience is predominantly Accounts Payable (AP), invoice
processing, or finance operations.
- Pure
technology implementation consultants without deep procurement domain
knowledge.
- Generalist
project managers or transformation consultants who cannot independently
validate procurement workflows.
- Candidates
with only indirect procurement experience and no exposure to direct
procurement or manufacturing supply chains.
- Junior
functional consultants who require significant guidance to assess process
design.
Engagement Expectations
The
consultant will participate in key design-validation workshops in Mumbai, with
remote follow-up for detailed reviews, documentation, and stakeholder
discussions. The engagement is expected to run for six months, with a focus on
ensuring the proposed S2P solution is operationally sound and ready for
production deployment.
