Who We Are
CoVolt Power is a leading utility-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) company specializing in the design and delivery of solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and high-voltage infrastructure. Since its founding in 2005, the company has built a reputation for de-risking project delivery and providing creative, integrated solutions that span the power and digital infrastructure sectors.
Consistently ranked as a top-tier EPC, CoVolt Power leverages a mission-driven approach to safety and quality, delivering thousands of megawatts in renewable assets that support a more resilient and sustainable energy future for developers, utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), and data center operators across North America.
The Role
We are currently searching for an experienced, driven Senior Scheduler to join our Project Controls / Scheduling team in the Houston office. This is a high-visibility role: the successful candidate will set the pace and technical standard for the scheduling team and begin mentoring and managing a small group of schedulers alongside the Scheduling Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain resource-loaded P6 master schedules for complex, high-value utility-scale solar projects, integrating cost, quantity, and progress data.
- Lead schedule recovery planning, delay analysis, critical path optimization, and forecasting of completion dates on assigned projects.
- Perform advanced earned value analysis (CPI/SPI, ETC/EAC implications, variance at completion) and translate results into clear, actionable recommendations for project and executive leadership.
- Build and maintain data mapping between P6 schedule activities and cost codes, ensuring schedule and cost systems stay fully reconciled.
- Develop and govern advanced Power BI dashboards and Power Query (M) models supporting schedule, EVM, and KPI reporting across the Houston portfolio.
- Mentor, train, and provide day-to-day technical direction to schedulers, sharing supervisory workload with the Scheduling Manager.
- Help set the technical standard and working rhythm for the scheduling team — scheduling SOPs, templates, QA practices, and reporting cadence.
- Champion continuous improvement of scheduling rigor and methodology; proactively identify and implement better tools, standards, and practices rather than maintaining the status quo.
- Travel to project sites approximately every 1–2 months to validate field progress, strengthen schedule-to-field alignment, and build relationships with site teams.
- Partner with the Scheduling Manager on resource planning, staffing, and workload balancing across the scheduling group.
- Facilitate schedule update meetings, compile progress reporting (Actual vs. Plan, S-curves), and communicate risks and opportunities based on schedule analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related quantitative field preferred.
- 6–8+ years of progressive EPC scheduling experience, including experience leading schedules on multiple complex projects.
- PSP, PMI-SP, or PMP certification preferred
- Extensive, hands-on experience with resource-loaded scheduling, schedule recovery planning, and critical path / delay analysis on complex EPC projects.
- Extensive experience with Power BI and Power Query (M language), including building and maintaining semantic models, KPI dashboards, and data-quality/governance standards.
- Proven experience mapping P6 schedule activities to cost codes and reconciling schedule and cost systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and advanced Excel (Power Query, pivot-based modeling).
- Strong earned value management fluency (PV, EV, AC, SV/SPI, CV/CPI, ETC/EAC) with the ability to translate results into executive-ready insight.
- Experience mentoring or informally leading schedulers; models strong scheduling discipline and sets a high bar for others
- Eager to challenge and improve existing scheduling methodology, tools, and standards rather than simply maintaining them.
- Comfortable operating with significant independence and holding project teams accountable to schedule integrity.
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites approximately every 1–2 months.
- Experience in EPC construction required; utility-scale solar experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and think strategically.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to construction sites and field locations as needed.
- Ability to work in both office and construction environments.
- Ability to walk active job sites while adhering to safety requirements.
Works closely with: Project Managers, Planners, Project Controls, Project Engineers, Subcontractors, and Field Construction Staff
Direct reports: A small group of Scheduler(s), with day-to-day management workload shared with the Scheduling Manager
