About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Server Firmware Compliance Specialist to oversee firmware compliance, lifecycle management, security validation, and configuration consistency across enterprise server infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure server firmware remains aligned with approved baselines, vendor recommendations, security requirements, and organizational change management policies.

This role requires strong knowledge of server hardware, firmware architecture, vulnerability remediation, compatibility testing, and infrastructure automation. You will collaborate with infrastructure engineering, cybersecurity, hardware vendors, and operations teams to reduce firmware-related risks, maintain platform stability, and improve the security and reliability of enterprise computing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain firmware compliance standards, approved baselines, and configuration policies for enterprise server platforms.
  • Assess BIOS/UEFI, baseboard management controller (BMC), RAID controller, network adapter, storage controller, and other server component firmware versions.
  • Monitor vendor advisories, security bulletins, firmware releases, and end-of-support announcements to identify compliance requirements.
  • Conduct firmware compliance assessments and identify outdated, unsupported, vulnerable, or incorrectly configured components.
  • Plan and coordinate firmware updates, security patches, and lifecycle upgrades in accordance with approved maintenance schedules.
  • Validate firmware compatibility across server models, operating systems, hypervisors, drivers, and hardware components before production deployment.
  • Perform risk assessments for firmware changes, including potential impacts on availability, performance, security, and hardware compatibility.
  • Establish testing procedures for firmware upgrades, rollback mechanisms, recovery processes, and post-deployment verification.
  • Investigate firmware-related incidents, boot failures, hardware initialization issues, configuration inconsistencies, and interoperability problems.
  • Maintain accurate firmware inventories, compliance dashboards, remediation records, change approvals, and audit evidence.
  • Automate firmware discovery, version reporting, compliance checks, and remediation workflows using scripting and infrastructure management tools.
  • Coordinate with server manufacturers and hardware vendors to resolve firmware defects, compatibility issues, and security concerns.
  • Ensure firmware management practices align with internal security policies, vulnerability management procedures, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Support infrastructure audits, security reviews, technology refresh projects, and server lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Prepare management reports covering firmware compliance rates, outstanding vulnerabilities, remediation progress, and operational risks.
  • Recommend improvements to firmware governance, update automation, deployment consistency, and infrastructure security.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in server infrastructure engineering, firmware management, hardware compliance, or enterprise systems administration.
  • Strong understanding of server firmware components, including BIOS/UEFI, BMC, RAID controllers, network adapters, and storage controllers.
  • Experience managing firmware across enterprise server platforms from manufacturers such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, or comparable vendors.
  • Knowledge of firmware update procedures, compatibility matrices, release notes, vulnerability advisories, and vendor support policies.
  • Experience with firmware compliance assessments, baseline management, security patching, and change control processes.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and data center infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with server management tools, such as Redfish, IPMI, vendor lifecycle controllers, or equivalent management interfaces.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of secure boot, firmware integrity, access controls, cryptographic validation, and hardware security principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and incident management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate technical changes across distributed teams while maintaining clear operational records.
  • Relevant certifications in server administration, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, or hardware platforms are an advantage.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Firmware Compliance Rate: Percentage of server components aligned with approved firmware baselines.
  • Vulnerability Remediation: Timeliness of addressing firmware vulnerabilities according to risk priority.
  • Update Success Rate: Percentage of firmware deployments completed successfully without unplanned service disruption.
  • Baseline Accuracy: Completeness and accuracy of firmware inventories and configuration records.
  • Compatibility Validation: Percentage of planned updates validated against approved hardware and software configurations.
  • Incident Reduction: Reduction in firmware-related failures, configuration inconsistencies, and avoidable outages.
  • Audit Readiness: Availability of accurate compliance evidence, change records, and remediation documentation.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Fully remote work-from-home arrangements.
  • Opportunities to work with enterprise server platforms, firmware security, and infrastructure compliance programs.
  • Professional development in hardware lifecycle management, automation, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure reliability.
