Senior ServiceNow Developer

Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to provide hands-on platform engineering for a Federal Agency. This role delivers complex remediation, integrations, automation, scripting, scoped applications, and approved platform enhancements while providing early-window Tier 3 engineering support and protecting upgradeability through reusable, well-tested ServiceNow-native solutions.

Work schedule: Monday-Friday, representative early engineering shift supporting the start of the 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Eastern service window; planned after-hours activities and rotating on-call support as required.

This position requires U.S. citizenship and a post-award Government background investigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain ServiceNow platform capabilities from approved user stories and technical designs using governed SDLC and Agile practices.
• Perform complex Tier 3 remediation and root-cause analysis for application logic, scripts, failed automations, performance issues, integrations, and defects in production-supported capabilities.
• Develop server- and client-side ServiceNow logic using JavaScript/Glide APIs, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, ACLs, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and other approved platform capabilities.
• Design and implement reusable enterprise integrations and supporting application logic using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, integration actions, service accounts, certificates/credentials, and approved error-handling/observability patterns.
• Build scoped/low-code applications, catalog items, workflows, portals/workspaces, and reusable components while minimizing unnecessary custom code and preserving upgradeability.
• Use source control, update sets/application repositories, CI/CD, code scanning, debugging/profiling, and automated tests to validate changes and retain technical evidence for release decisions.
• Partner with the CTA on design/code reviews and with the Tester on ATF/regression coverage, performance validation, rollback readiness, and post-deployment verification.
• Provide early-window engineering depth during incidents and releases, enabling operational restoration to continue while code/configuration causes are isolated and remediated.
• Support platform security remediation, data-quality improvements, Health Scan/technical-debt actions, and restoration of unnecessary customization toward out-of-the-box patterns when approved.
• Maintain technical documentation, code comments, release notes, knowledge articles, and transition materials sufficient for another qualified engineer to operate and maintain delivered capabilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• Five or more years of ServiceNow development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong ServiceNow JavaScript/Glide development skills and experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, ACLs, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, scoped applications, catalog/workflow development, and ServiceNow APIs.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting enterprise integrations using REST/SOAP, MID Servers, OAuth/service accounts, and reusable integration patterns.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD, code scanning, ATF or other automated testing, debugging/profiling, and governed release promotion.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD); relevant CIS certification strongly preferred.
• Understanding of ServiceNow performance, security, upgradeability, data modeling, and technical-debt considerations.
• Ability to support the assigned early engineering window and planned after-hours/on-call events.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to satisfy High Risk IT background-investigation and sensitive-information requirements.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

• Federal consulting or financial-regulatory experience.
• Experience with App Engine Studio, UI Builder/Workspace, ITOM/CMDB, SPM, Performance Analytics, or SecOps capabilities.
• Experience modernizing custom ServiceNow solutions toward reusable out-of-the-box platform patterns.

The posted salary range for this role is $125,000-145,000. The posted salary range is not an exact indication of the actual compensation offered and is instead a range of what NetImpact, in good faith, could compensate at the lowest and most high end of the salary market. In general, NetImpact may not pay the top of the salary range.
