This is Hybrid role (3 days in office /2 days remote)

About the team

The Compliance Surveillance team builds the systems that detect market manipulation and financial crime across millions of client accounts. Our platforms process more than 1 billion order events a day, and their correctness supports regulatory compliance and market fairness.

The role

We are looking for a senior software engineer who specializes in testing and quality. You will design, build, and own the test frameworks and quality infrastructure for our surveillance systems. This is a software engineering role, not a test-writing role. You will write production-quality code, make system design decisions, and own the architecture of how we test, measure, and monitor quality. You will work directly with developers and data scientists, with a direct line to engineering leadership.

What you'll do

  • Design and evolve a scalable Python/pytest test framework with clean abstractions, fixtures, test data management, and parallel execution
  • Make system design decisions for test infrastructure, treating it as a long-lived software product with its own architecture, code reviews, and maintainability standards
  • Build test observability: dashboards, flaky-test detection, failure-trend reporting, and alerting
  • Develop data quality checks for high-volume pipelines and databases, covering completeness, accuracy, and lineage
  • Write integration, performance, and contract tests (verifying that services producing and consuming the same event streams stay compatible) for distributed, event-driven systems
  • Triage failures with development teams and drive root-cause fixes
  • Raise engineering quality standards across development and data science

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong production-quality Python
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals: data structures, code review, and system design
  • Experience designing and building a test framework, or a significant part of one, and maintaining it over time
  • Deep pytest experience: fixtures, plugins, parametrization, and scaling large suites
  • Git and CI/CD experience (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with close attention to detail

Strongly preferred

  • Experience testing data-intensive or distributed systems (pipelines, streaming, databases, APIs), including data quality and lineage tools (Manta, Ataccama, Great Expectations)
  • Monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, ELK)

Nice to have

  • Performance and load testing (Locust, k6, JMeter)
  • Contract testing (Pact, schema registries, or similar)
  • Experience in financial services, trading, or regulated environments

Company Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary, annual performance-based bonus and stock grant
  • Retirement plan 401(k) with competitive company match
  • Excellent health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, and vision benefits. Company paid medical healthcare premium.
  • Wellness screenings and assessments, health coaches and counseling services through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Daily company lunch allowance provided and a fully stocked kitchen with healthy options for breakfast and snack
  • Corporate events including team outings, dinners, volunteer activities and company sports teams
  • Education reimbursement and learning opportunities

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $140,000 to $160,000 per year, based on skills, experience, and location. The offered salary is just part of the total compensation package. In addition to a competitive salary, the company offers both a discretionary cash bonus and a stock award, as well as a wide range of benefits, including healthcare, tuition reimbursement, and more.
