The Job

As the Sr. Software Engineer, you will play a foundational role in architecting the future of our ecosystem. You will contribute to technical design, mentor more junior engineers, and help translate product vision into reliable, well-tested software while leveraging Claude extensively for coding and integration testing

This is a hands-on technical position with some project management and leadership responsibilities. In this role, you will work closely with our Software Product and Engineering teams to document and evangelize a vision for the space. You will guide the team to break the high-level vision into well-defined milestones. You will assist in establishing and will champion and participate in best practices in workload management, including providing visibility to stakeholders and executives for progress toward our vision.

This is a primarily hands-on role with meaningful technical leadership and some project coordination responsibilities. You will work closely with Product, Data Management, and fellow engineers.

What You'll Do

Technical Design and Delivery (50%)

Design and implement high-quality Java full-stack features and services that power Performance and Financial Insights.

Build, optimize, and maintain Databricks data pipelines and related Python components.

Translate requirements into clear technical specifications and success criteria; contribute to architectural discussions.

Drive testing strategy for your areas of ownership, heavily leveraging Claude for unit, integration, and end-to-end test generation.

Apply security-first practices in all work.

Software and Data Engineering (30%)

Write production-grade Java (Spring Boot) code and support front-end work.

Create and maintain data pipelines and transformations on Databricks.

Use Claude daily as a core tool for coding, refactoring, debugging, and writing robust integration tests.

Perform thorough code reviews and uphold engineering standards.

Collaboration & Mentorship (15%)

Mentor Software Engineers, share effective Claude usage patterns, and help raise team quality.

Participate in agile ceremonies, break down work, and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.

Coordinate with partner teams on cross-team deliverables.

Continuous Improvement (5%)

Identify and implement improvements to codebases, processes, and developer experience.

Who You Are

You are a strong full-stack engineer who writes clean, reliable code and sees Claude as an essential accelerator for velocity and quality.

You balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability, communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and treat colleagues with empathy and respect.

Experience You'll Need

7–12 years of professional software engineering experience.

Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, etc.) with solid full-stack experience (TypeScript/React or equivalent).

Practical, hands-on experience with Databricks (pipelines, Delta Lake, optimization) and supporting Python.

Deep SQL skills and experience building or optimizing data systems that deliver insights.

Proven ability to design, implement, and ship complex features with high-quality tests.

Ready and experienced in using Claude extensively for coding tasks and integration testing; able to help others adopt effective practices.

Experience participating in or leading technical design discussions and mentoring more junior engineers.

Experience That's a Plus

Experience with advanced Databricks features, Medallion architecture, or lakehouse optimization.

Prior integration of generative AI tools (Claude preferred) into development workflows.

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms.

Exposure to event-driven architectures, time-series/IoT data, or metadata/catalog systems.

Solar industry or financial/performance analytics domain experience.
