In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of architecting, implementing, and optimizing full-stack containerized software solutions and deployment pipelines across enterprise environments. This position offers a flexible hybrid model, supporting project requirements with a blend of remote work and periodic onsite support in San Diego, CA as needed. This position requires a Secret level security clearance to be processed in order to start work, so US or Naturalized Citizenship is a requirement. You possess deep hands-on expertise in backend development, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud-native automation, paired with the leadership required to mentor engineering teams. As a proactive thought partner to system architects, product leads, and program leadership, you will transform complex operational demands into resilient, scalable, and secure software applications. Positions Responsibilities include: Architect and develop scalable, high-performance software applications and microservices, writing clean, maintainable code supported by Python and Linux workflows. Build and optimize containerized environments utilizing Docker and Kubernetes to ensure high availability, efficient pod orchestration, and seamless workload scaling. Design and operate automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions to accelerate reliable software delivery and deployment. Manage application release deployments using Helm charts and templating to maintain consistent configuration management across clusters. Integrate DevSecOps and continuous security practices across the development lifecycle by executing container scanning and automated vulnerability remediation using tools like Trivy, Grype, or SonarQube. Query and optimize relational databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL, ensuring efficient schema management, data persistence, and performance tuning. Harden application software, containers, and operating environments in alignment with DISA STIG security controls and defense-grade compliance standards. Qualifications Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance). 7+ years of progressive experience in full-lifecycle software engineering, application architecture, and systems development. 5+ years of hands-on experience building, optimizing, and debugging containerized applications using Docker and Dockerfiles. 3+ years of direct experience deploying and orchestrating microservices on Kubernetes clusters, including health monitoring and workload troubleshooting. 5+ years of experience building, operating, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD preferred, or equivalent experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions). Strong proficiency in Linux environments, shell navigation, system administration, and deployment workflows. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience). Preferred Qualifications CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification). Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. Demonstrated proficiency in Python for software development, automation, and data processing. Experience managing application releases with Helm charts and Kubernetes package management. Practical knowledge of DevSecOps practices, SAST, and container security scanning (Trivy, Grype, SonarQube). Hands-on experience querying and maintaining relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL). Experience with DISA STIGs, security hardening, and defense compliance frameworks. Working knowledge of foundational AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM). Background in operational defense or maritime environments, including US Navy shipboard systems. TIAG is an equal opportunity employer and federal contractor or subcontractor.
