One of the country's largest entertainment and media companies in the world is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering team on a hybrid basis. In this role, you will design and build high-throughput, low-latency cloud infrastructure and sophisticated data pipelines that power world-class digital experiences. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, cross-functional engineers, and technical leaders to drive innovation, optimize distributed systems, and architect cutting-edge data solutions serving millions of global users.
This exciting opportunity to scale enterprise-level media and data systems begins as a 1-year W2 contract with potential for extension, located hybrid in Orlando, Florida (onsite 2 to 4 days per week). In addition to working with a collaborative, high-impact team, you will be eligible for competitive benefits throughout the length of your contract.
Responsibilities
- Architect, write, and maintain clean, low-latency, and fault-tolerant code designed for high-throughput cloud environments and complex data algorithms.
- Partner with data scientists, software developers, and technical stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps and elevate engineering practices across teams.
- Establish low-level software design patterns, including optimal data structures, object-oriented design, and efficient code modularity.
- Devise technical solutions that support scalable architectural enhancements and resolve system performance bottlenecks.
- Identify opportunities to modularize, generalize, and reuse existing microservices and codebase components.
- Keep pace with emerging trends and innovations across cloud data management and modern software engineering.
- Mentor peer engineers through technical guidance, architectural discussions, and constructive code reviews.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience solving complex distributed systems and data management challenges.
- Exceptional programming capabilities with a deep focus on time and space complexity, algorithm design, and code optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in Python along with hands-on expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, automated testing, and release automation.
- Proven experience building and deploying cloud-native architectures in AWS using core services such as S3, Lambda, Kinesis, IAM, and SNS.
- Solid experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
- Working proficiency in at least one strongly typed language such as Java, TypeScript, or similar.
- Strong foundational knowledge of data storage trade-offs across relational databases, NoSQL stores, data warehousing, and partitioning strategies.
