The Engineering Development Group (EDG) is a technical and leadership development program for early career individuals at MathWorks that builds strong leaders and innovators in the organization. The Software Engineers in Test within the EDG program have the flexibility to identify and explore areas of interest within Quality Engineering at MathWorks. While contributing to challenging work in a fun and collaborative environment, you will gain experience with MathWorks products and user workflows through direct interactions with customers.
EDG - Software Engineer in Test team members receive extensive training, mentoring, and coaching that enables them to transition into teams within the Quality Engineering department aligned with their skillset, interests and MathWorks business needs.

Responsibilities
More specifically, you will:
- Contribute to high-impact technical projects with teams in the Quality Engineering department that match your background and professional interests.
- Build a range of Software Engineering in Test skills, including automated testing, designing and developing test strategies, procedures, and testing frameworks.
- Gain an understanding of customer workflows and deep product knowledge by solving complex technical issues for our customers. Work directly with top engineers and scientists that are making an impact with our tools in the world.
- Develop leadership skills through opportunities to initiate and lead process improvements, and coach and mentor others. Benefit from extensive learning opportunities through training, mentorship, and knowledge sharing forums.
- Transition to a team within the Quality Engineering department to build a successful career and help develop the highest quality software for MathWorks customers.
- A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical/BioMedical Engineering with a strong academic record
- Experience or interest in software testing and building testing frameworks
- Strong system design and systems thinking skills
- Experience with programming languages or computational tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, or JavaScript
- Strong problem-solving, time management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Curiosity, learning agility, and a willingness to explore new engineering tools and technologies, including AI-assisted workflows
- Experience with MathWorks products such as MATLAB and Simulink is a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in engineering domains such as Control Theory, Embedded Systems, or Signal Processing is a plus
