Show job description
Seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale mission-critical systems that empower our clinicians, field responders, and care coordination teams. In this full-stack role, you will contribute across our TypeScript, React, and AWS cloud ecosystem - collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate complex operational workflows and healthcare integrations into reliable, intuitive tools that deliver extraordinary, home-based care.

Location: Remote, Anywhere in the US

Hours: Full-time, core overlap with Eastern Time

Compensation: $170-190K/annually

The Role

You'll join our growing Product and Engineering team, building the systems that support our providers, field responders, and patient coordination teams. You'll own features end to end, from the React interfaces our care teams use every day to the backend services and integrations behind them, and help design and architect new capabilities.

Above all, our engineers understand our business and operational needs, solve problems creatively, and treat technology as a tool for delivering extraordinary care, not the end goal.

What You'll Do

  • Development Excellence:

    • Design and ship secure, reliable features across the stack, from APIs to event-driven services on AWS

    • Create fast, accessible React interfaces for clinicians, field responders, and care coordinators

    • Back your work with comprehensive unit and integration tests

    • Review code and give technical guidance on standards, design, and best practices

    • Write architecture decision records (ADRs) and lead multi-phase initiatives from design to rollout

    • Build LLM-powered features and work fluently with AI-assisted development tools

    • Integration Expertise:

      • Build and own integrations with health systems and partners, including HL7v2/ADT feeds, FHIR, CCDA, and interoperability platforms.

      • Data Stewardship:

        • Evolve our data models and the pipelines that move clinical and operational data between systems.

        • Collaboration:

          • Work with Product Management to scope work and co-write technical requirements.

          • Partner with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship features.

          • Bring engineering input early to user and use-case discussions.

          • System Reliability:

            • Troubleshoot issues and find areas to improve.

            • Share on-call duties to keep our platforms reliable.

What You Bring

  • Clear communication with stakeholders from clinicians and product managers to senior leadership

  • Steady, incremental improvement to the platform week over week

  • Flexibility and creativity in solving technical challenges

  • Experience in a startup or similar fast-paced environment

  • Track record of owning and supporting production systems

Skills & Experience

Requirements:

  • Software development experience in healthcare or another regulated industry (e.g., finance, security)

  • Experience handling PHI under HIPAA, including least-privilege access and audit trails

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering, with strong production experience in:

    • Node.js

    • TypeScript

    • React / React Router / Remix

    • PostgreSQL and ORMs

    • API Development

    • AWS, including serverless (Lambda, SQS/SNS) and infrastructure as code (CDK)

    • Preferred:

      • Healthcare interoperability (HL7, FHIR, Redox or similar)

      • Working with ETL/ELT pipelines

      • Python

      • SOC2 Standards

      • Accessibility (WCAG) and component design systems

      • Special Considerations

        • We are a remote-first company with occasional travel for on-sites.

        • This role will require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

        • Must be based in the US

About myLaurel

myLaurel was founded on the belief that a meaningful portion of hospital care can—and should—be delivered in the comfort of home. As a tech-enabled medical group, we provide on-demand acute and transitional care to frail, elderly, or medically complex patients at home—helping them avoid the traditional pathway of ambulance, emergency department, hospital admission, and post-acute facility care.

Health systems, payers, and provider groups partner with myLaurel to reduce avoidable utilization, lower readmission rates, accelerate throughput, and improve the patient experience—all while maintaining the highest standards of clinical quality and safety. We stand behind our outcomes by putting our fees at risk, demonstrating both accountability and confidence in the results we deliver.

Care is delivered through a physician-led model that combines virtual oversight with in-home clinicians, advanced technology, diagnostics, and therapies. For high-risk populations, myLaurel achieves 33% lower ED utilization, a 49% absolute reduction in readmissions, and an average of 15 bed-days saved daily - alongside a Net Promoter Score of 97.

Recognized for innovation and industry leadership, myLaurel has been named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and the New York Digital Health 100. The company is headquartered in New York City.
