SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds and supports the integrations and data work behind Longevity's client programs and our own operations. The position moves, transforms and reconciles data between systems, builds the interfaces and automation that connect them, and makes sure the data that comes out is accurate and documented. It also brings technical depth to Longevity's proposals and internal platforms. The engineer's current client assignment is the learning data migration on HHS's move to OPM's Core HCM platform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Integration and data engineering

  • Design and build integrations between enterprise systems: REST and SOAP APIs, file-based interfaces, scheduled extracts and loads, and the error handling and monitoring around them.
  • Profile, map, transform and validate data for migrations and interfaces. Write conversion rules, run conversion iterations and reconcile results back to the source.
  • Write clean, tested, version-controlled code (SQL, Python and similar), and document data mappings, interfaces and operating procedures so clients can run them.
  • Protect sensitive data, including PII, under federal security requirements and the client's authorization boundary.

Corporate technology

  • Build and maintain Longevity's internal platforms and automation: Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, the Power Platform, and the tools behind Longevity's delivery framework (document generation, scheduling, status reporting).
  • Set integration and data engineering practices for Longevity teams: code review, version control, testing and documentation consistent with our CMMI DEV practices.

Proposals and solutioning

  • Write technical approaches and solution designs for Business and Technology Services pursuits, especially integration, data migration and analytics.
  • Estimate integration and data work, and review solutions for feasibility and risk.

Current Assignment: HHS Learning Data Analyst

On the HHS program, the engineer migrates HHS learning data from the current learning management system to the Learning module of OPM's Core HCM platform (CLIN 3), working with the LMS migration lead, the functional team and the conversion developers. Allocation is 0.55 FTE, including the CLIN 1 data mapping and transformation hours.

  • Inventory and profile learning data (learner profiles, transcripts, completions, certifications, curricula) and report volumes and quality issues in the Learning Data Validation Report (D-33).
  • Support the LMS Current State Assessment (D-24) and write the Learning Data Mapping Document (D-28).
  • Run conversion iterations, reconcile converted records to the source, and work with HHS to resolve data issues.
  • Support the final data load at cutover and post-implementation stabilization, and hand over procedures to HHS.
  • Help the time and attendance team with data mapping and transformation rules (CLIN 1).

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Eight or more years in software engineering, including five or more on system integration, data migration or data engineering.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong SQL and at least one programming language (for example Python, C# or Java); APIs, JSON and XML; ETL methods.
  • Data migrations with profiling, mapping, validation and reconciliation, in Excel as well as code.
  • Clear technical writing for client and proposal audiences. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and keep a Public Trust (Tier 2, moderate risk) determination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR or learning data (training records, completions, certifications); Oracle Cloud HCM (HCM Data Loader, HCM Extracts, REST APIs) or Oracle Learning; xAPI, cmi5 or SCORM data; Microsoft Graph and Power Platform; cloud certifications.
