You excel at connecting the dots as a problem solver, ensuring the seamless delivery of reliable services from beginning to end.
Your innovative mindset is key to creating solutions to complex problems. Our systems drive our organisational success and underpin every journey our customers take. This is your opportunity to be part of an expert team who build and refine seamless technology experiences.
In this role, you'll:
As a Senior Software Engineer specialising in Pega, you will provide hands-on technical leadership across the design, development and evolution of Pega applications supporting Transport Concessions.
You will help establish a scalable and reusable Pega architecture that supports existing concession schemes while making it easier to introduce and evolve schemes and services over time.
• Lead the solution design and technical direction of Pega applications supporting Transport Concessions schemes, delivering scalable, maintainable and reusable solutions.
• Design Pega application and data architectures that support complex customer, scheme and service relationships and enable capabilities to be shared across multiple concession schemes.
• Design and guide integrations between Pega, REST APIs, AWS-hosted services and other enterprise systems, ensuring solutions are secure, reliable and supportable.
• Establish reusable Pega components, patterns and engineering standards that reduce duplication, improve consistency and support faster delivery of new capabilities.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting and production support.
• Lead technical design and code reviews, guiding engineers towards pragmatic solutions that balance immediate delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability.
• Mentor Pega engineers and help grow Pega engineering capability across the Core Platforms team.
• Identify and drive opportunities to simplify and modernise existing solutions, reduce technical debt and improve application performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams, cyber security specialists and stakeholders to ensure solutions align with Transport for NSW architecture, security and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to contemporary engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production support.
The broader Core Platforms portfolio includes Concessions, Transport Connect, CRS / NSW TrainLink Bookings, Contactless Payments, Park&Ride and On Demand Travel Credits, together with associated APIs and integrations.
For this role, the primary focus will be Transport Concessions, including customer journeys, entitlement and business rules, forms and integrations, stabilisation, enhancements and operational support.
The team also comes together in person for activities such as branch all-in days (Location Parramatta Office), training sessions, planning workshops and collaborative work.

About you
• Extensive hands-on experience designing, developing, enhancing and supporting enterprise applications using Pega Platform, including Pega Infinity ’24 or later.
• Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA) certification, with Pega Certified Lead System Architect (CLSA) certification highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership across complex Pega implementations, including solution design, application architecture and engineering practices.
• Strong experience designing Pega integrations using REST APIs and integrating with cloud and enterprise platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to design reusable Pega components and patterns rather than isolated solutions for individual business requirements.
• Strong understanding of Pega application architecture, case management, data modelling, integration, security, performance and maintainability.
• Strong understanding of contemporary software engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD, automation, secure coding, code quality and production support.
• Experience mentoring engineers, conducting technical and code reviews and providing technical guidance across delivery teams.
• Ability to work across engineering, architecture, product and delivery teams and explain complex technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Tertiary qualifications in IT, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, as required by the role description.
