About Atrium
Overview
About AIR at Atrium:
Atrium Innovation Research (AIR) is where early stage ideas and applied research become products. The AIR Incubator is a hands-on venture studio: small, cross-functional teams take promising concepts, many rooted in emerging AI and machine learning work, and move them from a hypothesis to a validated, revenue-ready product. We operate with the urgency of a startup and the resources of an established organization, running several bets in parallel and doubling down on the ones that show real traction.
Position Overview:
Atrium is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to take AIR products from early stage seeds to enterprise ready. Our current full-stack developer gets products to MVP and V1 quickly. You will pair with them on that speed, then own what comes next: security, scalability, reliability, and the deployment practices enterprise clients expect.
This is a hands-on role. You will write code daily, set the engineering bar for the team, and use AI coding tools as a core part of how you build. You will get the autonomy of a startup with the support of an established research organization, including real budget, senior partners, and a mandate to build something new, and your work will directly shape which ventures get launched.
Responsibilities
- Harden MVPs for production by refactoring prototype code, defining clean architecture, and deliberately paying down technical debt
- Design for scale with multi-tenant data models, performance tuning, caching, queuing, and horizontal scaling
- Own security, including authentication and authorization (SSO/SAML, OAuth, RBAC), secrets management, encryption, and secure handling of candidate and worker PII
- Prepare products for enterprise security reviews and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2
- Stand up and own cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, environments, release management, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Build reliable integrations with enterprise systems, including VMS platforms (Beeline, SAP Fieldglass, VNDLY), ATS, and HRIS
- Build new features and help take new products from concept to MVP alongside our product developer
- Use AI coding tools daily (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) and build AI-powered features with LLM APIs
- Set engineering standards, including code review, testing, documentation, and guardrails that let a small team move quickly without breaking things
- Mentor teammates and advise on build-versus-buy and architecture decisions
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering, including 3+ years building and running production SaaS used by business customers
- Strong full-stack skills in a modern stack, such as TypeScript/Node.js or Python on the back end and React on the front end
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating on a major cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including containers, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar), and CI/CD
- Solid grounding in application security: OWASP Top 10, identity and access management, data protection, and secure SDLC practices
- Experience designing multi-tenant systems and relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) that scale
- Daily, practical use of AI coding assistants, and experience integrating LLM APIs into products
- Comfort moving between rapid prototyping and disciplined production engineering, with judgment about which a situation calls for
- Clear communication with non-engineers, including product leaders and clients
Nice to Have:
- Experience taking a product through SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or enterprise vendor security questionnaires
- HR tech, staffing, or workforce management background, especially VMS, ATS, or payroll integrations
- Experience building with AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or MCP-based tool integrations
- Experience with data pipelines and analytics workloads
- Prior work at an early-stage startup or internal incubator
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment in our Jacksonville office
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
