About Us
At Travel Counsellors, our customers, communities and colleagues are at the heart of what we do. For more than 30 years, we’ve supported independent travel professionals to build successful businesses and create personal connections with their customers. Today, more than 2,200 Travel Counsellors around the world are supported by a team of over 400 colleagues in our Support Offices.
We’re continuing to grow and invest in technology that helps our people deliver exceptional service. Travel Counsellors was named Best Place to Work in Travel in 2022 and featured in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work in 2023, 2024 and 2025. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape our customer experience.
About the Role
MyTC and our wider customer experience are central to how we’re helping customers plan, experience and manage their travel. As a Senior Software Engineer in Customer Experience (CX), you’ll help build customer journeys across web, mobile and digital services.
This is a hands-on C# and .NET role. You’ll lead significant pieces of work, contribute to design decisions across CX teams and help modernise our technology. You’ll work closely with product, design, architecture and engineering colleagues to deliver practical, dependable solutions.
You’ll also help colleagues make thoughtful use of AI tools and agents. You’ll identify suitable tasks, provide useful context and constraints, and test and review generated work before release.
What You’ll Do
Lead substantial MyTC and CX changes across customer web, mobile and digital journeys, from technical planning through release and support.
Set a high standard for C# and .NET engineering, API design, testing, maintainability, security, performance and production readiness.
Work with product, design, architecture and engineering colleagues to shape solutions that support customer needs and the wider roadmap.
Provide technical guidance within your team and contribute to shared design decisions across CX teams.
Surface dependencies and help unblock delivery while supporting clear ownership within each team.
Use AI coding tools and agents where appropriate. Review and test generated changes, and remain accountable for their quality, security and outcomes.
Share effective approaches to AI-enabled engineering with colleagues.
Use customer feedback, product analytics, operational data and service health to inform priorities and assess the impact of changes.
Support production services through monitoring, incident learning, risk management and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll typically have five or more years’ experience delivering and supporting production software, with strong hands-on C# and .NET skills or equivalent progression. You’ll have demonstrated technical leadership by shaping design choices, supporting colleagues and guiding substantial pieces of work.
Experience with customer-facing web or mobile products and APIs is strongly valued. AWS, SQL Server and MongoDB experience would be useful. You’ll be confident using AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, and apply sound judgement around code quality, security, privacy and when human review is essential.
A degree or formal qualification is welcome, but equivalent practical experience is equally valued. Travel industry experience isn’t required; curiosity about how Travel Counsellors serve their customers is valued.
