About us
At Person Centred Software (PCS), our mission is simple: to help care providers deliver outstanding care through technology.
Our platforms are used by thousands of care professionals every day, supporting better outcomes for residents, improving compliance, and helping teams focus on what matters most people.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and maintain high-quality software for our mCare products. You will own features and technical improvements from design through to production, contribute to system design, and help ensure our solutions are scalable, maintainable and secure.
You will work with a high degree of autonomy as part of a cross-functional squad, partnering with Product, QA and engineering colleagues to deliver outcomes. You will also support peers through code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing, and help improve team practices. We use AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery; sound engineering judgement, quality and compliance remain essential.
What you'll be doing
Design, develop, test and maintain software using C# and .NET across backend and frontend technologies
Deliver product features and technical improvements across the full software development lifecycle.
Work with Product Managers and QA to understand the problem, refine the solution and ensure the work is testable, including agreeing clear acceptance criteria
Independently investigate and solve moderately complex technical problems, evaluating trade-offs and long-term impact; contribute to technical design and architecture discussions that balance scalability, performance, maintainability and security
Write and maintain automated tests for new and changed code, including unit, integration and end-to-end coverage where appropriate
Review peers’ code and provide clear, timely and constructive feedback that supports quality and shared learning
Take ownership of significant work from design through release and production support; identify risks, dependencies and blockers early and follow through to resolution
Plan and manage your work effectively, contribute to sprint planning and communicate progress and trade-offs to the squad and stakeholders
Collaborate across teams, articulate technical decisions, document relevant context and share learnings from delivery and retrospectives
Mentor and support less-experienced engineers, encourage collaborative problem-solving and contribute to an inclusive, positive team culture
Use AI-assisted tools to support analysis and development, validate their outputs, and share useful practices while safeguarding quality, security and compliance
Propose practical improvements to code, tools and team workflows, and help evaluate their impact
What we're looking for
Strong commercial experience developing software using C# and .NET Framework and/or modern .NET (including .NET 8+)
Experience building and maintaining web-based applications across backend and frontend layer
Experience designing and delivering features or systems, with an understanding of scalability, performance and maintainability trade-offs
Strong understanding of software quality, including clean code, testability, maintainability and secure design
Experience writing automated tests as a standard part of development and contributing to code reviews
Experience working in an Agile product development environment and using source control, CI/CD pipelines and work-tracking tools
Confidence using AI-assisted developer tools in day-to-day work and applying judgement to verify outputs for correctness, quality, security and compliance.
Bonus points
Experience with Blazor or another modern UI framework
Experience with SQL databases, including schema design and optimisation
Experience building or supporting SaaS or multi-tenant systems
Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms, including containerised workloads such as Kubernetes
Experience designing and consuming APIs
Understanding of authentication and authorisation concepts such as OAuth2 and OIDC
Experience in healthcare, care management, pharmacy technology or another compliance-driven domain
Experience with high-availability or business-critical systems.
