WHO YOU ARE

At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. The IKEA app is a big part of that: millions of customers use it to plan, shop and get inspired, at home or in store. We're looking for an IKEA co-worker who enjoys building quality Android experiences and sharing their expertise. You're a hands-on engineer who mentors others and helps the team grow. You're curious, take ownership, adapt when plans change, and share our values of togetherness and simplicity.

We use AI to build better and faster. You'll use company-approved coding agents and AI development tools to learn, code, test and troubleshoot, checking their output critically, protecting confidential information and owning the result.

- At least 7 years in professional software engineering, including at least 5 years of hands-on Android development.
- Strong experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Solid grasp of software design, architecture (e.g. MVVM) and object-oriented and functional concepts.
- Experience with unit and UI testing, Git/GitHub and CI/CD.
- A formal qualification in computer science, software engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

You'll design and build features, review code, fix bugs and help run and maintain the app. You'll investigate performance, improve architecture and build setup, and help clarify specifications with product and design. You'll mentor colleagues, share knowledge, follow Ingka Software Security Directives and help evaluate tools that improve how we deliver.

Our stack includes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Hilt and Gradle.

TOGETHER AS A TEAM

We work in agile teams with product, design, QA, backend and data colleagues. We use feedback, data and experimentation to keep learning, and we keep customer value in focus. Ask questions, suggest improvements and learn from mistakes - we do.
