Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Java / AWS)

We're looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable services for a growing product team in Northern Virginia. You'll own features end to end, from API design through deployment and monitoring.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Java and Spring Boot
• Build and document REST APIs used by web and mobile clients
• Deploy and operate services on AWS (ECS or EKS, RDS, Lambda, S3)
• Write automated tests and improve CI/CD pipelines
• Review code and mentor mid-level engineers

What you bring

• 5+ years of professional software development, mostly backend
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
• Hands-on AWS experience and comfort with Docker
• Solid SQL and relational database design (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Nice to have: Kafka, Terraform, microservices at scale

Compensation

$140,000 to $185,000 base, depending on experience. Hybrid in Reston, VA. No security clearance required.
