Senior Software Engineer, Backend — Java / Spring Boot

Medicasimple is a fast-growing dental practice management software company serving more than 10,000 healthcare professionals across 1,500+ clinics. We help clinics manage their operations, patient journeys, communications, and growth through one connected platform.

With an established presence in Türkiye and growing international reach, we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help develop the systems behind our product. You’ll work on software that healthcare professionals use every day, where reliable integrations, accurate data, and secure access have a direct impact on clinic operations.

This is a backend-focused role with end-to-end feature ownership. You’ll work primarily with Java, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL, collaborating closely with product and QA to understand requirements, make practical engineering decisions, and deliver maintainable solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Own backend features from requirement clarification and technical design through implementation, testing, and release.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and business logic supporting clinic operations and patient workflows.
• Develop reliable integrations with external services through APIs and webhooks, including error handling, retries, and recovery.
• Design and improve data models, schema migrations, transactions, and queries to support correctness and performance.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data isolation across organizations using the platform.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and write targeted tests to prevent critical problems from recurring.
• Contribute to code reviews and pragmatic improvements to the existing architecture, balancing delivery speed, reliability, and maintainability.

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from one of Türkiye’s leading universities, such as Boğaziçi University, Koç University, Middle East Technical University (METU), Bilkent University, or Istanbul Technical University (ITU).
• At least 4 years of professional software development experience, including delivering and maintaining production applications.
• Strong backend development skills with Java and Spring Boot, including REST API design and business logic implementation.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, and JPA/Hibernate, including data modeling, schema migrations, transaction management, and query optimization.
• Experience integrating external services through APIs and webhooks, with reliable error handling.
• A good understanding of authentication, authorization, and data isolation in applications serving multiple organizations.
• Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and reasoning about correctness and performance.
• The ability to understand existing codebases, work effectively within an established architecture, and identify practical improvements without unnecessary complexity.
• Strong debugging skills and experience writing focused automated tests for critical functionality.
• Confidence working with Git, pull requests, and code reviews, with clear communication in English and effective collaboration with product and QA.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, and testing, with sound judgment in reviewing generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Experience in any of the following would be a plus:

• React and JavaScript/TypeScript, including state management, API integration, and responsive interfaces.
• Flutter and Dart for iOS and Android applications.
• Stripe, Twilio, or subscription billing systems.
• Healthcare software or products supporting clinical and operational workflows.
• CI/CD pipelines and mobile release workflows.
• Reporting systems and data import/export processes.

React and Flutter are optional strengths for this position. Your primary focus will be backend engineering.

Our team works primarily from our Akatlar office in Istanbul, with flexibility for some remote work. Regular in-person collaboration is part of the role.
