WE DELIVER TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS CONNECTING YOUR WORLD!

Group Network Technology (GNT) is a key part of Deutsche Telekom, where international teams shape and deliver innovative telecommunications IT and network technology solutions across Europe - from architecture and engineering to development, testing, infrastructure, and operations.
In Cloud, we build and operate Deutsche Telekom’s on-prem Telco Cloud across all layers - from hardware to orchestration - based on open-source technologies. This is where modern infrastructure meets real-world impact at scale.
Our chapter-based model creates a strong home for expertise, learning, and collaboration - empowering people to grow, contribute in agile teams, and thrive in an inclusive environment while making a meaningful difference for our customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Design, develop, test, and continuously improve cloud-native CaaS and PaaS capabilities, primarily using Go.
  • Develop Kubernetes operators and controllers to automate cluster, platform, and application lifecycle processes.
  • Engineer a highly automated Kubernetes platform based on Cluster API and integrate it with the surrounding infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD and GitOps workflows using technologies such as GitLab CI/CD, Helm, Flux, or Argo CD.
  • Improve the platform’s scalability, reliability, security, observability, and performance.
  • Support the migration of existing Kubernetes clusters and contribute improvements to relevant open-source projects.
  • Take ownership of complex engineering topics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with international engineering and operations teams, provide technical guidance, and mentor other engineers.

What we are looking for

  • University degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, Information Systems, or comparable qualification.
  • Fluent in English, verbally and written.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud-native environments, with a proven track record in DevOps and platform engineering.

Must-Have Skills

  • You are characterized by detailed company-specific knowledge or exceptional specialist knowledge and skills:
  • Strong software-development experience with Go, including backend services, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing Kubernetes operators or controllers and working with Kubernetes APIs.
  • In-depth Kubernetes knowledge, including platform or cluster lifecycle management and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Cluster API or comparable cluster-automation technologies.
  • Experience with automated testing, code reviews, API design, secure coding, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Helm, Flux, or Argo CD.
  • Understanding of observability and cloud-native security principles.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with controller-runtime, Kubebuilder, or open-source contributions.
  • Knowledge of advanced Kubernetes networking, multi-cluster environments, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience integrating Kubernetes with OpenStack, VMware, bare-metal, storage, or networking infrastructure.
  • Telecommunications, OSS/BSS, or large-scale private-cloud experience.
  • Don't worry if you miss some of these skills – we are here to grow and develop you.

Social skills

  • A mindset of continuous learning, willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
  • Ability to innovate and find solutions to complex problems.
  • Being a strong individual contributor and an empathic team player.
  • Being supportive to colleagues and a mentor for junior coworkers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders in the company up to management level.
