Big systems. Exciting challenges. Real impact. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build and scale the internal Payments engine that handles payments for the entire Delivery Hero. Your work keeps checkout reliable and payment failures low for customers across our markets.

Our Fintech team builds Wallet, Payment, and Anti-Fraud solutions worldwide. You’ll focus on the core payment features that manage the lifecycle of different payment flows, ensuring consistency and reliability of payment operations.

You’ll develop products that empower millions of customers and merchants, from seamless payments to innovative financial solutions like wallets and credit. Your work will support our path to profitability by creating financial flexibility for users and enabling smooth transactions across our markets.

• Design, build, and deliver highly scalable software systems in complex, global environments used across more than 70 countries, applying secure coding practices throughout the development lifecycle
• Lead backend engineering efforts with a focus on distributed systems, using Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit, and drive architectural decisions for your features with design patterns, SOLID principles, and Domain-Driven Design
• Own services end-to-end with a “you build it, you run it” mindset, including infrastructure automation and continuous deployment
• Define and apply testing strategies across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end levels
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across multi-region, distributed microservices, and promote reliability, on-call, and observability best practices
• Mentor teammates and evangelize engineering best practices to continuously improve how the team builds and ships software

• Proven experience designing and delivering software systems in complex business domains at global scale, within fintech or payments
• Deep backend engineering expertise, with a strong preference for distributed systems
• Hands-on expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit
• A strong engineering ownership mindset with a passion for automation, CI/CD, and reliability
• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity in approaching complex challenges
• A high bar for quality, performance, and attention to detail

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, wallet, or anti-fraud domains
• Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka)
• Experience mentoring other engineers
