Our engineering team's growing and we're hiring a Senior Software Engineer, with a particular focus on growing our Sydney-based team.

This is a full-stack role. You might lean towards the front end or the back end, but you’ll be genuinely capable on both sides, and back-end-leaning full-stack engineers are a particularly good fit.

As a senior engineer, you’ll shape how we build, not just what we build. You’ll lead projects, make pragmatic technical calls and help lift engineering practices across the team.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the main patient facing components of our platform
• Take the lead on solving complex technical challenges and making pragmatic, data-informed engineering decisions
• Deliver reliable product capabilities from technical design through to production, working closely with Product, Design and Data
• Contribute to our AI tooling and workflows, raising the velocity of the entire team
• Raise the engineering bar by improving our testing, deployment and monitoring practices, championing better standards and sharing knowledge to help the team grow
  

Experience you’ll bring

• 6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building and shipping intuitive, accessible and performant user-facing products
• Proven full-stack experience building and shipping production web applications end to end
• Strong front-end expertise with React and Next.js
• Deep back-end experience in at least one modern stack. We work in Ruby on Rails and Kotlin with Micronaut, so you’ll be expected to get up to speed on both, even if they’re new to you
• Strong experience running production workloads on AWS, with solid knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture, including messaging, streaming and eventual consistency
• Curiosity, autonomy and accountability, with a drive to grow and raise the standard of those around you

Experience that would be valuable

You don’t need to bring every one of these, but experience across any of the following would be highly regarded:

• Experience working in fast-paced startup and scale-up environments
• Contract-first API tooling such as OpenAPI or AsyncAPI
• Messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka or SNS/SQS
• Containerised environments, Infrastructure as Code (such as Terraform) and observability tooling such as Datadog
• CI/CD and deployment automation, plus performance and resiliency testing
• Breaking down or modernising large monolithic applications
• Working within healthcare, fintech or another regulated environment

What’s on offer

We support a mix of in-office, hybrid and remote working across Australia. While we’re open to exceptional candidates nationwide, we’re looking to grow our Sydney-based engineering presence and will prioritise candidates who can regularly collaborate from our Surry Hills office.

If you’re Sydney-based, you’ll typically spend three days (M, W, F) in the office, with flexibility to work from home.
